Then what happened to him down the stretch?9th highest pressures in the league, so yes. You can tell when you watch him he's a consistently disruptive player.
Dorance Armstrong had 23 hurries and 5 sacks compared with Gregory's 25 and 6 in 507 snaps relative to Gregory's 437.
Armstrong had a sack in each of the Cowboys last 4 games, so he came on late. Point is that is very close to the same production, and better production down the stretch when we needed it most.
I think Dan Quinn and Micah Parsons had much more to with Dallas being a disruptive defense in 2021 than Randy Gregory.
Also at age 29, Gregory's low snap count that is not likely to improve.
This is almost complete conjecture, that Gregory's pressures resulted in turnovers when in a thing called reality the Cowboys had some of their biggest turnover games when Gregory was out vs the Chargers(2), Eagles(3), Falcons (3), Saints (4), and December vs the Giants (4).No kidding and people always talk about pressure leading to turnovers but then they have a guy who creates a ton of pressure and they write it off because the sack numbers weren't super high. Well our defense created a shit load of turnovers as a result of pressure.
You might have loved Gregory, but the numbers, at least for Dallas in 2021, don't support what you're saying.
Good riddance. Give me consistent players I can rely on.
Give me Armstrong, Wagner, and some help in the defensive interior.
