They absolutely fucked up. You don't reach an agreement and then be like, oh by the way will you accept this clause that you surely won't like? It's a bullshit thing to do and also dumb because they should have found out way up front if it was acceptable. That way, you have the ability to have a plan in place ahead of time instead of scrambling to find a replacement at the last minute. There's a reason this team hasn't won jack shit in two and a half frigging decades and this level of incompetence is emblematic of that. Fuck this team. I'm beyond sick of this shit.
They are incompetent for sure. Having said that, what if the language would have protected us from a disaster that is surely to come? I feel like it worked out for the best in this case.

I honestly don't care that Gregory got signed by another team. He wasn't worth 13 million a year, anyway.
Good player at best that seemed to be relatively inconsistent from game to game and was usually suspended (I know it was just for weed, but still, he knew the (dumb) rules of the league and potential consequences of breaking them).
Could probably sign an older, still productive vet DE for less than what Gregory got

Hahahahahahaha

The Joneses strike again.
The sheer incompetence is hilarious. I found it comical that they had a deal in place and the player went to another team. I cracked up laughing when I saw it was because they tried to change the deal.

So in the last couple of weeks the team has threatened to cut players, traded players for below market value, asked players to take pay cuts without offering some kind of deal, screwed up negotiations they were winning, and killed their trade leverage on multiple players. Am I missing anything? I’m glad I am over This team. This shit would have broken me a couple of years ago.

The Falcons are starting to look pretty appealing right about now.

They're still in a bit of a rebuild but at least there's an actual GM in place who's actually being held accountable for the failure/success of the franchise.
No way, man...they're never gonna win shit either.

I'm ready for USFL.

It sucks that he bailed after the team stuck with him for years, but I suppose he earned the right to be a free agent.

Finally hitting his stride and he's gone.

Thanks for the tease.

It is pretty funny, though, that it's still all over social media that he's signed with Dallas. They couldn't wait to let that out.

:lol Maybe that’s what Jones’ socialized to make themselves look better.

Or, Gregory’s agent playing poker and Jones’ didn’t call bluff.

Then they should have presented that option up front. Not after a deal had already been agreed on. To me, it's not about the team wanting to protect itself (it should). My issue is doing it backasswards. Our inept ass FO sat down with a contract, handed it to the mofo, he said yes, and then we went, wait, one other thing. Nobody fucking does business that way. Nobody.
