The bright side of seeing the steelers sneak in, we get to see them get smashed next week in KC.

The straw that broke the camel’s back was afterwards giving up the 10 yard run on 3rd & 4.

Even with the timeout, if the Chargers stopped the Raiders for a 2yard gain or something to force a 4th down, It would’ve been a ~55 yard field goal attempt. I think the Raiders would’ve called a timeout with 2 seconds and either called a Hail Mary or 55 yard FG. I don’t think the Raiders would’ve let time expire. That is, unless the Chargers called another timeout to prevent the runoff to 2 seconds, which would’ve forced a Raiders punt.

Someone should confirm if Chargers actually made a substitution to support Staley’s claim of getting his best run personnel out there for the 3rd and 4. 3rd and 4 is not typically a running down.

I think Staley was more so thinking about preventing Raiders from kicking a 55 yard FG as time expired. If they forced the 4th down and called another TO with 00:30 remaining, Raiders wouldn’t attempt a 55-yard FG. This actually makes sense if you didn’t think the Raiders were content with letting time expire. I think the Raiders were content with a 55-yard FG attempt as time expired.

Come on guys. I'm sick of seeing this all over the internet.. San Diego calling timeout isn't why the Raiders kicked the FG. What? To spite them for calling a TO?

They attempted the FG because they got 10 yards on the next Jacobs run. If they stuff him there they probably "thought about" (as Bisaccia said) taking the tie vs a 57 yard FG.

I agree that if the Chargers had stopped them for 2-4 yards rather than allowing 10-12 that the Raiders likely would've just let the clock run out. With that said, the Raiders weren't seemingly in much rush to do anything and if you just let the clock continue to run it kind of takes some of the sting out of the upcoming play with the Raiders kind of muddling around.

The Raiders seemed to be in kind of a lax state before the timeout, the timeout seemed to refocus them a bit.

I think the Chargers were thinking that if they stopped them on 3rd and 4 the Raiders might attempt a long FG, which with a miss could allow the Chargers to get in position for their own FG attempt.

Amazing how much more burst a schlub like Corey Clement has compared to Elliott.

If McCarthy doesn’t play the RBs needed to get our running game going for the playoffs I think he should be fired. Unless of course Jerry forces him to play Elliott which in that case I wish death on Jerry.

There was like 4 seconds in the play clock when the TO was called. I guess you may be right they run a play there without the TO and just let the clock run out. I think there was less than 40 seconds left. I see that point.

Wonder what the Raiders would've done? Probably called TO and kicked after a 10 yard gain.

I hope the Chargers weren't thinking that. I hope they were thinking stuff then on 3rd and that'll be it. But they got gashed for 10.

They don't have to bench Zeke. Just give Pollard more carries and more targets in the passing game in the playoffs vs the regular season. Get him a lot touches. Simple.
