The entire Moore thing is confusing to me. At the beginning of the year he was running quick slants and rub routes to get people open. He was running bunch formations and moving people around. Now we are just throwing screen after screen. Heck we used to say Dak couldn’t throw to Dez because he couldn’t throw the deep ball. Moore would hit coop on slants and move him all around. Now he looks like JG part two.

At least realize that you're telegraphing what you're doing and break the tendency. But maybe we are saving that for the playoffs. Doubtful but hey it's the only explanation I've got other than Moore really is a dope.

Didn’t we run into this a bit in Garrett’s last year? Offense starts the year on fire, then the wheels come off and with a few exceptions, sputters the rest of the season. The speculation then was that Garrett had wrested playcalling back from Kellen. Maybe it’s that with his inexperience, Kellen doesn’t have a 16+ game strategy, and once the film on his tendencies from the first 4-5 games is out, he doesn’t really have a plan B (or C, D, or E).

This is very much like Garrett's last season.

I don't know. You're still seeing things like McGovern split in bunch formation, Cedrick Wilson passing downfield, designed midplay laterals, and designed pile pushes.

According to team reporters Moore studies and tries to pilfer plays from around the league every Monday (the lateral was supposedly one of them).

Maybe there's something to it, but to me it's not like Garrett's final year when we seemed to just suddenly go straight conservative.

I don't see how this is like 2019. That team never looked as good as this one, not even close. We had three games where Moore was all creative and then it shut down starting with the Saints game, that part is true. But that team just wobbled back and forth around 500 in classic Garrett style.

He'd better have a few tricks up his sleeve for the playoffs or he's going to look like a massive moron. Getting some explosive plays out of the running game (Pollard) would be a huge boost, so I'm expecting to see him play a larger role.

I'm just assuming he has to have counters to some of the stuff he is doing. Teams are jumping all of the bullshit screens but we seem to do nothing to counter that. Certainly Moore is going to bust those out at some point right? You've won the division, you've made the playoffs, now there is no excuse to hold anything back. So I guess we will all either get to see it come the first week of the playoffs or we will know that Moore is just sort of a fraud. Or at minimum a guy who is still learning on the job and has a ways to go.

Yep, it's partially wishful thinking, but anecdotally McCarthy has seemed to take a very deliberate, long-view approach to most things, so it wouldn't surprise me if we saw a good amount of new stuff busted out in the playoffs.

Certainly there is something you can run off that which isn't a WR screen that would have the defense caught with their pants down when they jump what they thing is another screen. Or hell how about some misdirection in the run game. Our run game any more is read option up the gut over and over again. We finally saw Dak keep one of those last weekend and it worked. But we literally haven't seen Dak keep one of those all year. But I don't know, maybe run some stuff that looks like it's going left and it goes right. Maybe fake some jet sweep action one direction and hit the run the other direction. Maybe have some guys actually pulling and trapping to bust open some runs.

Yea it's not about trick plays, they have a place for sure, but it's about keeping your opponents off balance which can be done in a variety of ways.

You are correct. This team as a whole hasn’t been this organized for a while. The offense is doing things that were not entertained before. One such instance is using both RB’s in formations. The passing game is my biggest concern. Receivers like Cooper are contributing less as the season has progressed. This circumstance however Is due to proclaimed injury reasons. You can’t control that aspect. The receiver depth should be able to make the necessary adjustments and the defense has improved to the point that now it isn’t necessary to garner a load of scores because the defense can keep the opponent in check more that previous times. To me Dallas hasn’t been able to keep all the top personnel in the game at the same time for any extended period but that could change.
