The great thing about coaches like Judge and Rivera is that they'll turtle-ball and tough their way to 6 or so wins even when their roster is marginal and they have a meh QB.

I don't think there's much risk of teams like that completely cratering and ending up with Bryce Young.

Yeah scouting isn't rocket science. Most of these guys are just picking the best players off of teams and ranking them. Scouts aren't really being held accountable for the most part for their opinions. It's a lot of good old boy network for the most part. But I think a real GM could take advantage of that and run laps around many other NFL teams.

Yep. 100%. I have a good friend who’s son scouts for the Browns. He earned it the old fashioned way- got a degree in marketing, hopped around as an assistant coach at the HS level, and just happened to have a father who played football with Gruden at Dayton. Hey…that’s what favors are for. So in other words, really no background or real experience in scouting but somehow wink got a job scouting.
