If the ball is touched by the receiving team before crossing the line of scrimmage, it doesn't change possession unless the receiving team gains possession or the kicking team fails to convert.

Don't know if this has already been mentioned but Ed Werder said he talked to Teddy Bridgewater and other Broncos after the game and they said the Cowboys going for it twice on 4th down came off as arrogant and it motivated them even more.

Just like @Texas Ace, myself, and a few others suggested.

I was fine with the first. We had momentum. The second seemed silly after missing the previous and “easy” points to be had.

Did you not notice how they were playing with a lot more energy than the Cowboys? A few people mentioned it in the chatter thread and Dak himself conceded to it.

So yeah, I'd say the extra motivation + the Cowboys' sloppy play = a 30 point beat down.

When I saw that play happened, that's when I knew we were definitely losing.

I still had hope but I was back to the old style of watching where I expected the loss and would have mightily cheered a comeback.

That's too simple for the NFL rulebook. Think of something more complicated that will require at least a 5 minute call to league offices in NY then get back to us.

Seriously though, your suggest would be an easy fix. Using yesterday's play as an example....even when the Broncos player recovered the ball he didn't reach the 1st down marker. Treat it as if they actually went for it until an official change of possession tool place.

It’s a convenient narrative. I didn’t see the first 4th down failure, but the second one should have been successful. I don’t know why Dak threw it at the ground instead of an open WR that probably keeps running another 10 or so yards if hit in stride.

4th down attempts have a way of either breaking a defenses spirits if successful, or giving them confidence if they stop the play.

The confidence Mike McCarthy has in his offense and Kellen Moore is a beautiful thing in my opinion.

The more the offense is on the field the better. Usually.

Also, right now, Gregory and Parsons are the best players on the current defensive unit, DLaw excluded. We are still in need of a significant talent injection on that side.
