Mike Smith is the only guy I can think off that might potentially lose his job that I'd like. I don't think Coughlin has it in him to restart somewhere again.
I agree but you never know. I could see Rex Ryan getting fired if things shake wrong for the Jets.

Sad thing is we'd probably never hire Ryan (a) because we just switched to the 4-3 and it would make us look like idiots to switch back and (b) his personality is too big and would overshadow Jerry's.

We need a big personality charasmatic leader. You can have a subdued coach when you have a leader at QB...we don't have one.

It makes me sound like a complete homer, but George O'Leary is the kind of coach I want. He's old, but he still has the piss and vinegar attitude. Plus he wouldn't require much roster changes to make his system work. He'd just make it more conservative and build through the lines. What a concept.

Isn't that the same dude that lied to Notre Dame to get the job, or something like that?

Ya he fudged his résumé. But who cares? He builds teams the right way and he gets results.

He wouldn't be my first choice but I'd look at him before half the list in the OP.

Jerry: "George, it says here you coached the 1998 Denver Broncos Super Bowl team..."

Don't we need a guy who has some track record in talent evaluation and acquisition? Because we need some.

He still needs to be the voice, though.

Jerry isn't bringing anyone in to help pick players. The best we can hope for is someone who can make due with what he's given. Since this band of fat cats are so nonchalant about everything, an asskicker would be the best option.

He is letting the current coach though...Frederick, Escobar, and Williams all had to be influenced by Garrett. I think there is some reason to think a coach could have some sway.

He would listen to Holmgren.

And, supposedly, it was because of Kiffin that we didn't take Floyd.

Judging by the war room camera on draft day, I thought Garrett wanted Floyd... but the trade down was done instead, heavily influenced by Kiffin/Marinelli's opinions.

At least, that is how I took it.

I'm not sure Garrett was all in on Frederick either. I'm sure he wanted OL help, but in doubt he pegged that specific player to Jerry. He'll they originally said they targeted Pugh in the trade down.

I do blame him for Escotron, though.

Well...I shows that Jerry can be influenced in the draft room...Garrett, Marinelli, and Kiffin all played a part in the draft. So if you had a guy who knows talent that definitely helps.

Also...Garrett had to be in on Frederick...a C in the 1st is not sexy enough for Jerry.
