I fell asleep before half-time yesterday. I slept like a baby and woke up feeling great.

That's about how I feel about this team.
Skid, I'm right there with you from here on out. I'm done watching this group of quitters and losers embarrass and soil the Cowboys name.

Glad I have the Ticket this year. At least I can tune in to teams who actually compete.

This is going to sound weird considering what is transpiring tonight, but every remaining game on our schedule is winnable.
It's true.

If Ware can get two more weeks of healthy, if Hatcher can get back, if Austin could somehow become a contributor for the rest of the season from the slot, if Lee can get back on the field.....

We could win enough of those games to win the division still.

We'll see if this team goes into a shell. It's fought hard so far the last couple years, this is a defining point.

Watching the offensive line in a sideline conference and something hit me...

Doug Free is the leader on the offensive line. Let that sink in fellas.
Probably by seniority. I'm guessing it will be Frederick sooner rather than later.

Free needs to be gone.

I would pay to watch Saban go nuts on these losers for a year. Bamas team prob hits more in pads in practice than we do all year.
Interesting since we actually went to the most pad hitting we've had in years when Garrett took over before the league mandated how often you can do that.

I really only have one observation of note... the entire game I just got a familiar "who gives a shit" vibe from this team. It's almost like from the very first snap, nobody on the team wanted to be there.
I did too.

This was a quit game.

That's why it'll be interesting to see if they collapse after the bye, or come out with a renewed sense of urgency.

I think they'll come out ready since it's the Giants who are now playing well. But if they lose nomatter how well they play, I think they circle the drain quickly. If Eli goes full retard or they just outplay them and win then we'll get to the 9-7 or 8-8 needed to contend for the division.

If the second name in that sentence is a Harbough, or David Shaw or Cowher than this team doesn't look like this right now.
Perhaps not, particularly in the case of Harbaugh, but you can bet it will still underachieve. We will never win while Jerry is calling the shots. This DL is atrocious, you can't win in the playoffs with this personnel no matter who your coach is.

I wonder if Cowher wants to coach anymore. If you're getting 2005 Cowher maybe, it's almost ten years ago though.

David Shaw would be a home run (hell, he has more NFL experience than Garrett), but he could have his pick of jobs.

He MIGHT be Jerry approved just because I don't know he is a big enough name to take Jerry out of the spotlight nationally.

But why would an up and comer like him need to be hamstrung by the football doofus and his neanderthal family?

He might get Lou Holtz or somebody like that.

Romo was wildly inaccurate last night.

That scrub short-hopped more throws than Chuck Knoblauch.

It all depends on who Larry Lacewell wants.

The reason the guys I mentioned were mentioned is because they all put a premium on the lines. They know it makes their systems work and they put assets into it. When talking to Jerry, all of them would tell him exactly what is needed to make their teams work and he would attempt to get them the pieces they want. That's partly Garrett's problem. His "expertise" is offense, only with a shitty identity. He wants a RB but doesn't use him. He doesn't value OL otherwise there would be more than 2 legit prospects in the last 4 years. He values a 2 TE offense but doesn't know how to use it and abandoned it quicker than he does the run game at times.

FWIW, I think Garrett (and Romo) are the reasons we've spent 2 first rounders on OL for the first time in forever. I don't really agree that he's to blame for our lack of attention to the OL, that's Jerry's wildcatting. I would agree that the guy Garrett signed off on (Callahan) made two epically bad free agent scouting calls on Livings and Bernadeau.

But yeah, the two TE thing, we've just never been able to make that work, though in theory, I like the idea.

It does seem like Garrett is not capable of stepping in on the defensive side of the ball, though, even though he's more of a "walk around head coach" now. Parcells was able to kinda step in on either side of the ball and make changes, even though his background was defense. You still get the sense that we have an offensive head coach and a defensive head coach here though.

Which.... isn't that something that Joe Gibbs counseled Jerry to do? Someone told him to do that which is why he hired Wade to begin with. Bad idea.

I hope Romo and Garrett did ask for more help on the lines, but they shouldn't be satisfied with 2 first rounders and one schlub porject in the 4th. They should be trying to build a great unit.

As for the DL, well we all know about the propaganda that was coming out of camp about how happy they were with it once it got healthy. Since Garrett doesn't really work on that side, I'm sure he just ate the cheese.
