If Zuerlein missed that kick, it would’ve all been on McCarthy for letting 5 seconds tick off the clock for no reason whatsoever. That’s Jason Garrett level stupid.
Yet, people, on this damn board, blamed Dak for that.

Put it this way, I was really encouraged after what I saw last week despite the fact that they lost.

I'm much more discouraged after this game despite the fact that they won.

And I don't care about winning ugly because games are hard to win in the NFL. The issue that I have is with the intent that the staff appeared to coach and gameplan with.

You're not going to win close games on the road in December and January coaching like that.

Everything wasn't bad. I'll throw out a prop to our DL.

The DL really impressed me today. I didn't expect to see us get much pressure without our two best edge rushers but they hit and harassed Herbert a good bit today.

The run defense was stout as well. Run defense has done a complete 180 from what we saw in 2020. IMO, it's been the most impressive aspect of our defense these first couple of games.

If you're keeping it real that end of game clock management was reminiscent of He Who Shall Not Be Named.

On some level I understand it because you don't want to end up kicking like a 52 yarder with 20 seconds left and possibly lose the game if you miss, but it was bad.

There was time to run another play, without calling the timeout. Which is what I would have done. You can use the whole field that way.
Yeah, at the very least, we could've just had Dak hand off to Zeke for up the middle for a safe conservative 3 yards and called timeout.

Oh well.

You felt like this team should have won this game by double digits with the turnovers the defense generated. The D can’t stop anyone but when it bags those turnovers to hold the other team to only 17 you kinda have to put up 28-31.
They have a pretty damn good defense. I'm not sure where this idea came through that they didn't.

You wouldn't call the timeout with 20 seconds...it was 3rd down. Run a QB sneak even. Then TO

Yea they're much better than last year, the offense is clearly capable of dominating so we just have to hope they can put it all together.

We aren't winning a SB this year anyway, but I don't think a NFCC appearance is out of the question if we get everything clicking at the same time.

The thing I'm most discouraged about from this game is the spotty coaching decisions. I thought we'd get steadier decision making with McCarthy on board but he and his renegade ST have been helter-skelter.

If they don't run into the punter and the clock management is cleaner at the end of the game, I'd be perfectly content with this win. Those are the kind of dumb decisions that lose you games against good teams, so it's discouraging to see the Cowboys coaching staff continue to botch what should be simple football decisions.

Dak also though. Forty million dollar / year QBs should be able to manage that better even with no coach help.

I really think they were supposed to run another play and Dak got brain lock.
I am starting to get concerned with Dak acting like Romo running the clock down with last minute adjustments

In the end, we won. I’m not gonna sit here and throw a tantrum over a game we walked away from with a win. Against a pretty good team, in their house, while missing a bunch of starters.

Games are won and lost on some strange shit every week. We witnessed that just last week, with the refs making sure they were involved. On to the eagles.
