Iowa State's defense is legit but their offense has been a massive disappointment so far this year.

They just scored the go ahead TD with 2:41 to play. So all is well in Aggieland.

The Tide is now up 45-14.

Not a bad job by Mercer, they are not getting embarrassed out there right now against Alabama's 3rd stringers.

I'm convinced Saban intentionally keeps the score "respectable" whenever he plays smaller schools like Mercer or The Citadel.

His teams will casually drop 50 on quality SEC teams but somehow little ol' Mercer is able to hold them under 50.

Just go back and look at his track record in those type of games. The Tide rarely cover the spread.

When I coached in private schools we would get up big and then take out our entire starting defense. Just swap scores for the second half. Your get more playing time for the scrubs that way.

Did you use Saban's technique leading up to those games?

The week prior to a game vs an FCS opponent Saban is prickly as hell because he doesn't want his team to take any opponent for granted. IF you ask Alabama players it wouldn't surprise me if they said their worst weeks of practice were the ones leading up to games vs FCS opponents.

Oh I was an asshole those weeks. Private schools can be extremely challenging to keep kids focused. The same kids are in all other activities at the school. You’re constantly competing for attention. Another issue is that if you’re good the talent difference can vary wildly. The top 3-4 teams are often so so much better than then bottom 75%.

Kentucky's Penn State transfer QB is looking pretty sharp.

Arkansas just blocked a Longhorns punt, could go up by 17.

Well, they didn't...only 13-0.
