wutGimme Horn. I don't want my corners to be as tall or muscular as Surtain.
I get it but there are a couple of guys you listed that I wouldn't take before Horn.I get Surtain at 10, fine, but Horn would be a bit ridiculous.
Like yea, I get that he's a nice CB prospect but he's not cemented as head and shoulders above guys like Rousseau, Parsons, Phillips, Moehrig, Ojulari, etc. He has ideal height/weight/speed and is extremely physical but almost to a detriment given that he gets very grabby, which could be a big problem.
Trade down to 17 and if he's there, fine, but taking him at 10 smacks of being locked in on a CB come hell or high water.
give me a shorter (not "short") db with better change of direction skills
Asante Samuel fits the bill and wouldn't command a first.give me a shorter (not "short") db with better change of direction skills
so instead of a corner at #10 you'd take ...Asante Samuel fits the bill and wouldn't command a first.
I would take a high impact player. Pitts if he lasts, even one of the top 3 receivers.so instead of a corner at #10 you'd take ...
Emphasis on short...Asante Samuel fits the bill and wouldn't command a first.
we won't do that after our "historially bad" defensive season. there's only so many years you can kick the can down the road. teams who have to win shootouts week after week almost never win the championship.I would take a high impact player. Pitts if he lasts, even one of the top 3 receivers.
I also don't force a Top 10 pick on a defender just because you had a historically bad defense and also chose to be chickenshit in free agency thereafter. There are only a handful of defenders I would be comfortable with at 10. Some of the guys like Rousseau and Parsons, I have doubts about their ability to meet the value of the pick. A trade down is always an option, but it can't be too far.we won't do that after our "historially bad" defensive season. there's only so many years you can kick the can down the road. teams who have to win shootouts week after week almost never win the championship.
No, thanks. I would greatly prefer a 6'2" guy with longer arms than a 5'10" guy with shorter arms. Muscle and length makes potentially a better corner being able to press at the line and deflect passes or even INT more.give me a shorter (not "short") db with better change of direction skills
force? you'd be picking a corner exactly where he was projected to go. no "reaches" here.I also don't force a Top 10 pick on a defender just because you had a historically bad defense and also chose to be chickenshit in free agency thereafter.
Sure but my point is that forcing the pick when we could get a comparable prospect at a position of need after trading back, not to mention still landing a CB in the 2nd/3rd in a deep class, is a sign of forcing a pick for need (and not even an overly glaring need).I get it but there are a couple of guys you listed that I wouldn't take before Horn.
Horn is a little over six feet tall with longer arms than Surtain. No, thanks. I would greatly prefer a 6'2" guy with longer arms than a 5'10" guy with shorter arms.
You weren't comparing Horn to Surtain. You said you would rather have a shorter less muscular CB versus the opposite. I absolutely disagree with that as long as the rest of the measurables (40 time, 3 cone drill, etc) compare.Horn is a little over six feet tall with longer arms than Surtain.
