These guys mock corners to us EVERY. DAMN. YEAR.
Unfortunately it's also a year where the most ready to play defensive players besides Parsons are corners.

Half our own site is talking about taking Farley, and Farley himself isn't a terrible choice, but the "run on corners" instinct might have the team snapping up Surtain if Farley is gone when they should really just take a step back and grab the best possible player, defensive or not.

So, more of the same, then. Every year people say we are taking a corner. And more often than not... We don't.

And even if we did draft somebody like Farley, or even Surtain, it's not like it wouldn't upgrade our team.

And I would still rather draft a corner over your BPA, Pitts. The net gain with somebody like Farley with the state of our team would be more than we'd gain with the all world, can't miss, once in a life time TE. I have zero interest in spending a high first on another offensive skill position. Especially one that would be about the 5th option in our offense.

Pitts is a huge talent.

If you are going BPA, I can't see a way that he is any less than the tenth best prospect in this draft.
Feh.*

Yep Chase and Waddle are awesome talents too.
Smith is the real game breaker though, but I understand what you’re saying. TE is a different position entirely. They create mismatches in ways WRs can’t. Our TEs are producing today because the WRs pull coverage, but the reverse would be... insane.

Dak broke records with no OTs and Zeke a shell of himself. A lot of that production came though when we were behind largely because of our defense but also because our offense had difficulty getting started or forcing a mismatch.

With the draft you are looking at the next few years and not just next year.In two years it’s likely we will no longer have one of Gallup or Cooper, and who knows what the defense looks like?

Back in October 2018 when he had nothing, who could have imagined the WR corps of Cooper, Gallup, and Lamb two years later?

I just don’t see Farley being at the same level as Pitts. He wouldn’t be a bad pick though.

You can still draft defense outside of the first round and greatly improve the team

If there’s a pick in the OL better than Farley, you have to take them

True. And you can also use your top ten pick to get a player that really isn't going to provide much more than the players you already have on the team at that position, because of where that position will stand in the pecking order of the offense. "Generational" talent, or not.

I'd prefer not to.

Pitts would change the pecking order and make the offense more reliable in many situations.

Forget the gross passing statistics, they definitely do not tell the story of last years offense.

Of course you can help the defense with the first pick, but I’d rather help the team get the best player.

It’s not like we’re going in a Super Bowl run next year

The biggest thing with Pitts is utility. He would clearly be TE1 on this team. I don't think they would go that route after committing to Jarwin and Schultz's year. Just goes to show you that BPA has it's pitfalls. Same for WR in this draft.

The story of last year's offensive was that we didn't have our QB for 3/4ths of the season and OL for even less than that.

And when we had our QB and were down only Lael Collins on the OL, we also struggled to move the ball first.

Zeke was clearly no longer the force he has been that sets up the pass, and we were unable to pass to set up the run.
