To put their embarrassing failures into perspective list the worst/wackiest moments of their tenure.

Garrett in particular has really hurt the Cowboy brand.

Seems like every other week his teams are setting a new record for all the wrong reasons.

Most 400 yard passers allowed in a season; fewest rushing yards by the Cowboys in a game; +4 in turnovers then losing, etc.

----------------------------------------------------------

Here's my short list please add to it.

- Allowing Calvin Johnson to damn near set an NFL record for receiving yards.
- Winning the turnover margin 4-0 and losing the game.
- Blowing a 27-3 3rd quarter lead.
- Romo's Seattle fumble.
- Icing our own kicker.
- Poor clock management down the stretch of the Baltimore game.

- Allowing back to back 80 yard runs against Baltimore.
- Blowing a.... was it 24 or 28 point lead against Detroit?

So we're doing a list of failures from 2007 onward?

Awesome.

2007 didn't have many humiliating moments. Just a disappointing one and done playoff exit after a 13-3 season. However, in typical Garrett/Romo fashion, this was the first of many negative marks this team would set for the franchise. They became the first team in NFL history to secure homefield and lose their first game.

2008 is the season where the Cowboys reputation as a choking and embarrassing failure was born:

@Pittsburgh - Cowboys blow a 13 point 4th quarter lead to the Steelers which is capped off by Tony Romo throwing a pick 6 with under 2 min to play

Vs Baltimore - in the TX Stadium's final game and with a chance to secure a playoff spot, the Cowboys lose to the Ravens in humiliating fashion. With a chance to get the ball back and score to take the lead, the Cowboys allow Willis McGahee to go 77 yards for a TD on the first play of the drive for what looked like a game clinching TD. However, the Cowboys scored again and were put in the exact same position. They then proceded to allow fat ass LaRon McClain to go 82 yards on the first play of the drive for a TD. The Cowboys are the only team in NFL history to allow back to back runs of 75 plus in the same game in history. Michael Irvin reportedly loses his shit and goes crazy saying this team was an embarrassment to the franchise and he would be right.

@Philly - with the final wild card spot on the line, the Cowboys lose 44-6.

2009:

This season was actually relatively free of humiliating losses. There were some disappointments, but nothing that was epically bad

2010:

The Cowboys go 1-7 to start the season. I think that was embarrassing enough.

2011:

Now this season was full of gems

First, they blow a 14 point 4th quarter lead to the Jets due to Romo fumbling on the 1 yard line, the special teams allowing a blocked punt for a TD, and Romo throwing a crucial pick at the end of the game to setup the game winning FG.

Cowboys blow a 24 point lead in the 2nd half to the Lions - only time this type of lead has ever been blown in Cowboys history

Jason Garrett ices his own kicker against Arizona to lose the game

Cowboys lead the Giants in a huge game with division lead implications on the line. With only 5 min to play and a 12 point lead in hand, the Cowboys defense allows a quick score, then Romo misses a wide open Miles Austin. After the Giants take a 3 point lead, the offense drives down the field for the game tying FG only to have it blocked by JPP.

Cowboys go to NY in the season finale with the division on the line and proceed to lay an egg as usual.

2012:

Cowboys get blown out by Chicago at home on Monday night in a game they were never really in. Romo throws 5 picks and 2 are returned for TD's.

Jason Garrett again mismanages the clock which leads to a long missed FG to lose to Ravens

Against the Giants, Romo throws 3 1st quarter picks including another pick 6. Cowboys mount a comeback, but of course, lose in epic fashion when Dez Bryant's finger touches down out of bounds.

At Redskins the Cowboys again fail for the 3rd time in 5 seasons to beat a division rival in the season finale for a divison title/playoff spot - Romo throws 3 picks.

The back to back 80 yd runs had nothing to do with Garrett or Romo.

I could be wrong, but I think it's about the humiliating losses and blunders during their tenure here.

Besides, we already know that you don't think anything is ever Romo's fault.

And you blame him for everything. We already know that as well.

I wasn't here to defend anybody. The title of the thread said Jason Garrett and Romo's legacy in Dallas. The two run backs by special teams and a RB had nothing to do with either. Garrett was the OC at the time and Romo plays QB on offense...not the defense or special teams.

Dumbass!

Despite the thread title I also took this to mean "team failures."

Besides, the defense has let the team down with embarrassment just as many times as the offense has.

Add the 2011 Patriots game to the list. Instead of going for a first down to put the game away and keep Brady of the field, Garrett calls some conservative run plays giving Brady the ball back with about 3 minutes to play.

You'll get no argument from me here.

Until yesterday, I didn't think they could do worse than giving up a 12 point lead with 5 minutes left. But I was wrong.

Like I said in another thread, words can't describe my feelings about that performance yesterday.

My question is- how many coaches and players will come and go with the same result until this fan base figures out what the real problem is?

Oh yea....having 100 chances to put the game away but we couldn't, and of course, a defense that had played well all day couldn't get a stop when it mattered most and allowed Brady to win in the final seconds.

The Dallas defense is completely inept no matter that some individuals play lights out. They cannot stop a wagon full of kittens in critical times.

The thread is about humiliating losses during Romo and Garrett's tenure.

There seems to be 10 times as many horrid losses during their era than any time in franchise history.

Maybe I'm wrong but it sure feels that way.

Exactly.

The weirdest thing is that it has been like that since 2005 and most of the personnel from that team isn't even here anymore.

Hell, I think DeMarcus Ware is the only remaining player from that defense and yet this ugly trend continues.

Even when they play lights out for 3 and half quarters or more, they can never stop a team on the most critical drive of a game. It's crazy.

More than the Campo/Quinthy/Hutch era? I dunno about that.

Right.

Maybe it's hindsight, but it certainly feels like these losses have all happened like this in recent years.

Go back to 2005 and you have 2 more: the Redskins MNF debacle followed by an even more humiliating loss to the Seahawks just a few weeks later. What are the chances that a team would have 2 losses like that just 3 weeks apart?

2011 alone had the types of losses some teams experience once in 10 years and we had like 3 in one season.

We're cursed.

Those weren't debacles as much as they were horrible teams just blowing games.

This team has had talent and just absolutely loses games in the most amazing ways.

Indeed. I was almost expecting it to happen. You could tell by how they kept doing it all game long. They would play solid for a play or two and then let Megatron brek a play for huge yardage.
