For the record, this is the official PA reasoning behind changing how we vote. The new system isn't good, regardless.

Why does Pennsylvania need new voting systems?
In 2018, voting systems in Pennsylvania were approaching the end of their useful life. Most of the equipment in use at that time was older than the first iPhone. Their software and hardware would soon be unsupported by manufacturers.
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has called onOpens In A New Window all state and local election officials to make certain that by the 2020 presidential election every American votes on a system that produces a paper record or ballot that can be checked and verified by the voter and audited by election officials.
New machines will ensure that Pennsylvanians are voting on the most secure and accessible voting systems available and that audits of election results can be easily and accurately accomplished.

Seems like having paper opens the process to just as much if not more potential fraud. But I guess maybe there were security concerns with a purely electronic system and without paper there was no backup way to verify the accuracy.

That’s called “ballot fixing”. It’s legal in some states, I believe.

Ballot won’t read in the machine for whatever reason, two people are supposed to fill out new ballots to match, that way there’s a witness, then re-run the ballot.

There is another video of a guy having an absolute shit fit over what he sees on a ballot, then he crumples it and throws it away.

That’s the kind of shit you worry about.

Curious. What do you guys think is a logical way to handle this for a country that is split exactly down the middle?

You think the Trump administration should just let this go on for a week and watch leads dwindle as they “find” ballots? Just let it go and at the end of it when they find enough ballots, Trump loses? Everything should be accepted and we all go on with our daily’s? Everyone ignore that this isn’t normal?

Orrrrr, we do what we can to show that this was legitimate or illegitimate? Maybe put half the country at ease and let them know they can trust their democracy? Maybe things need to be exposed and corrected so our nations majority values are being represented and being shaped and reshaped as our moods and beliefs dictate?

I think we’d all agree, we can accept any outcome, so long as it’s fair. Maybe I’ve gone off the deep end, but the past 3 days don’t seem fair to me. If these states, who are taking 3-4 extra days, would have come in by midnight on election night, and we saw the numbers coming in, that would be one thing. There are much larger states that had their shit together within minutes of polls closing. Millions and millions more votes to process than in these contested states.

Shit needs to be looked at and we need a fair and transparent explanation for everything that has transpired the last 3 days. If not, this nation is headed for some rough times.
This is really my problem with this whole thing. Why is it that TX NY and CA were able to process all their ballots in a timely manner, yet PA, GA (Stacy Abrams) MI, WI, and NV are still fumbling and having hefty bags full of ballots dropped off in the middle of the night? It’s ok to hate Trump, but for haters to stick their head in the sand and act like this is normal really blows my mind.
If the Democrats were up 700,000 votes and woke up the next day to a 200,000 vote lead every fucking city in America would probably be on fire.

Listen, pal. It’s time we just accept the fact that we’re in a cult.

I don't give a damn what it's called. That shit need to stop. Find another dan way, yanno way less archaic, so we don't need this type of shit. It would easy as hell for those two to fill out whatever they wanted on those ballots. It's not like they are watching each other. Besides, what's to stop them from both leaning a certain way and colluding to put whatever they wanted on those ballots?

I don’t like it either. It’s subject to that bias and human fuckery we’re talking about.

He's a lunatic.
That alone will be the biggest threat to this country under a Biden administration.

The looney left getting more influence.

Hopefully, he is strong enough (and lives long enough) to hold that off.

I don’t like the President throwing out the word “fraud”, because that is a word that has so many negative connotations. But I also believe that this mail in ballot solution was ripe for problems. It was almost singularly pushed by the Democrats.
Unfortunately people have a right to be suspicious when you see the things that are happening in crucial swing states with bags of ballots being dropped off, polling count centers covering their windows and kicking out certified poll observers, people coming forward with legitimate issues about their ballots. And this is all on the heels of 3-1/2 years of the Democrats hounding Trump on every fake thing they could. Now you have the ballots...could be nothing, but man things just look odd.... .it’s hard not to be skeptical after all we’ve witnessed.
Really the question is.....Why are these Democratic government officials fighting to keep the Trump campaign from overseeing the ballot process or even addressing their questions if they have nothing to hide and everything is legit?

not here. i just had to confirm my address and the month and day I was born -- information that can easily be acquired on the net.
I had to present my state-issued ID (or I guess someone else, official picture ID).

That should be a requirement. I cannot fathom why it wouldn't be.

The right to work requirements should stretch to the vote. If you are not legal to work, you shouldn't be legal to vote.

I agree with all of that. Or, lift the restriction on using a SSN for an ID, and let people use that. It costs nothing.

If there was fraud show the evidence in the courts, do recounts, whatever, and go from there, if not, these cloak and dagger stories on social media (half of which likely originated in Uzbekistan or some shit), which are then picked up by the President and the more fringe parts of the right wing media, need to be put to rest. At this point the President throwing out these baseless claims with no evidence is undermining the integrity of our democracy just because it's what he wants to hear and believe.

Democrats didn't bitch and moan and claim voter fraud and some vast conspiracy when Trump won Michigan by 10,000 votes in 2016, Wisconsin by 25,000 and Pennsylvania by 35,000, those types of margins happen and it's not abnormal.

Trump demonized mail-in voting for months, told his supporters to vote in person, the left promoted it saying it's perfectly safe, so what's happening right now is exactly what people expected with in-person voting heavily leaning Trump and the mail-in (which is seemingly being counted after the in-person for the most part) heavily leaning Biden. It's also not abnormal for military votes to come in a week or whatever after election day, this has been happening for years.

Some wackjob just got popped driving up to Philadelphia vote counting locations with a bunch of guns because of the shit being spewed by the President and on social media, just like the guy who went up to the DC pizza place because he thought kids were being trafficked. That pizza guy is now in jail and regrets being duped with this bullshit, and that's the stuff that needs to stop. People need to stop being so willing to believe whatever they see pop up on their social media that reinforces their worldview, while at the same time completely ignoring anything that runs counter to their beliefs from a true patriot like Mattis.

It's a slippery slope where people start to put the country and it's foundational principles second in favor of seeking out information that reinforces the reality they prefer, and then allowing that reality to calcify and dictate how they view everything.
You must be kidding that the Democrats didn’t claim the election was rigged.

After what happened with Merrick Garland and for them to turn around and cram Amy Comey Barrett into a SC justice position, I'm perfectly fine with them backdooring Kamala Harris into the POTUS position.

All gloves are off at this point. Add those extra justices to the SC, Joe!
Won’t happen. Doesn’t control the Senate. Might not happen even if they did because such a move would be so abhorrent.

Also, following the rules (voting to confirm a justice or not) isn’t the same as being a sore loser and adding more seats. Which simply opens the door to the Republicans duplicating it when they retake the presidency. You make it 11? We’ll make it 13. Did you learn nothing from Harry Reid’s idiotic decision to make federal judges only take 51 votes instead of 60? Then McConnell turned around and did the same for the SC, thanks for the good idea, dumbass! Lol (Reid, not you).

If the vote was still 60 none of these Supreme Court shenanigans happen. You gonna assign some blame, rightly, to the Democrats for this mess? You should.

The fact that the Senate refused to even vote on a guy who was nominated roughly 10-months prior to the election is what upset me.

I'm not sure the if the Dems have been in a position like Trump and the GOP were in but if this were pre-2016 I'd so no they wouldn't have crammed a justice into the supreme court at the last minute.
Would it have changed your opinion had they simply voted no? And then no again on whoever else he nominated through the election if it wasn’t a conservative?
