I don't believe the dream theory.

For one reason, as others already stated, things always work out for him pretty well because he's so smart, so it's not like it was the first time his plans worked out very well for him.

But more importantly:

I seriously doubt that if he was dreaming about his ideal scenario, that it would involve such a shitty last moment with his son.

As much as he loved his son, I would like to think that his perfect ending would allow him to gain closure with Walter Jr. There would be a conversation similar to the one he had with Skyler. Maybe not one where his son tells his dad how much he loves him and forgives him, but at least a situation where he would get to speak with him one last time and probably even physically embrace him.

If Walt is imagining everything setting up perfectly for him, then I have a hard time believing that his idea of the best outcome for his final moment with his son to be one where all he can do is painfully watch him walk to his apartment from a distance with no contact whatsoever.
Yeah, that's the way I figure it, too.

The only arguments against the dream theory are the scene with Walt Jr, as mentioned... And jesse's dream sequence where he is making the wooden box. Walt didn't know about that box so he couldn't have dreamed it.

But, Jesse dreaming about the box technically takes place before Walt even comes for him, so in theory that could have not been part of walt's dream... Just a real time look at Jesse.

If Gilligan says it's not a dream, then it's not a dream. But I think it very easily could have been if he wanted it to be. And I am positive that it was discussed in writers meetings.

I think Jesse actually told that box story to Walt early on in the show but I'm not positive.

The whole dream theory seems kind of ridiculous to me since there is no indication from anybody on the show, or during the episode or prior episodes, to suggest that that was the intention. The only reasoning behind the theory that I've seen is that things turned out too well for Walt, and there is no way that someone as meticulous as Gilligan would end a show which will probably be his legacy in such a manner without at least dropping hints.

No...he would just slap you for thinking of the Bobby Ewing ending.
Not sure if I should laff at you for being old enough to remember that, or be sad that I remember it too.

What did you guys think of TWD tonight?

I was not surprised at all to see Carol being the culprit. She's been acting really weird this season.

So this is basically the same storyline as when Shane had to fight his way in to whatever that place was for the meds to save Carl, eh?

Great.

Agreed. It was good at first, but fell off pretty rapidly about season 5.
