Has anyone bothered notating that this “noose,” was so small it couldn’t have possibly fit a human neck?

What is a “noose,” anyway? It’s a rope tied with a knot to make a loop, with the intended use being to hang someone.

There is no way this sized knot/loop could hang someone. Ergo it is simply a knot.

I'm sorry but its a freaking statue, we have books, movies, TV shows to learn about & preserve history. I bet most people haven't even seen 99.9% of the statues in the country and the ones that did probably never read any plaques/sigs describing what it is. The one referenced by King supposedly had a slave and an Indian at the feet of Lincoln. I'm pretty damn positive many folks here would get riled up if there where statues of "white people" at the feet of a slave or MLK, etc

Put a historical marker there describing what was there, the reason why it was removed, etc, etc and move on down the road to bigger issues

A noose also constricts when you pull on it, this looks more like a bowline or figure8 knot which lets you pull on it without it tghtening around your hand
