And I'm pretty certain you'd rather not have your wife and all the brave men and women fighting this pandemic without PPE.

Today, Georgia Governor Brian Kemp ordered a stay at home order for his state citing new information from the CDC that asymptomatic patients can spread the disease. This is a "game-changer" he said. Meanwhile, that has been reported for ~1 month.

How can these people be so ill-informed and ignorant? Is nobody from the White House reaching out to them? I mean, they shouldn't have to be they sure as fuck should be. I mean this guy Kemp had repeatedly made himself look like a total moron in ads and false claims but I figured it was just shtick. No. this guy really is a shithead.

Does 3M make them? I know they make construction grade masks, but I assume those aren’t adequate.

There’s no way in hell there should be a shortage at this stage in the game. There should be several factories across the United States who’s only objective is to pump out masks.

I think it’s more likely there are stockpiles of them sitting around waiting to be cleared by whatever government bureaucracy that thinks they know better than the company who would ultimately be responsible for putting out an inferior product if unchecked.

Difficult, but not impossible. Hell, a pillow factory has started pumping out masks.

Made another shopping excursion this morning just to pick up a few things but more to see if the panic buying is beginning to abate. The shelves were much better with product with the meat area being the most demanded. Virtually everyone had a case of TP but there was some in stock. I picked up some paper towels just because they were available . The speed of the shoppers was still at a semi frantic pace I guess because they maybe thought this was their best shot to get what they perceived would continue to be in demand. It will be a while before I make another grocery shopping run but I expect things to continue to improve.

I estimate 50% had a mask and 65% gloves. I would like to have seem more.

The demand for masks multiplied by a hundred, a thousand times in a few weeks. And this is worldwide, not in one area where they can be moved from another area. No industry is equipped for that kind of production increase in such a short period of time.

And Shiek, the construction masks actually are good, at least the N95 ones. I bought one a month ago at Lowes (not a 3m) that actually advertises on the package that it protects from flu viruses. Lots of people are making cloth masks, which are better than nothing, but they aren't N95 (keeps out 95% of particles below a certain size).

Good to hear LT say he saw so many people wearing them at a store. Surprising and good.
