I don't know about all that. It takes awhile to retool a factory, set up quality control. Then training, then you have the whole supply chain issues both on the input side (paper) and output (shipping). I think if you told Ford today to start making masks it would be a minimum of a month until they started making them in any volume. Certainly the case with ventilators which are far more complex.
Fellow US car maker General Motors has said it expects to produce ventilators at a rate of 10,000 per month following an order from President Donald Trump to make products under the Korean War-era Defense Production Act.
Ford also plans to make as many as 50,000 ventilators for Covid-19 patients in the next 100 days at its Rawsonville Components Plant in Michigan.
