Scary thing is how hysteria will go into hyperdrive if a celebrity, Tom Hanks or Idris Elba, actually succumbs to this.
Well, what’s their overall health like? I think I read somewhere that Hanks is a diabetic.

And if your name sounds anything like Iba Elza or whatever, you probably have the virus and should stay inside.

I wonder if door dash and Uber eats will continue to bend over the restaurants thatbare dumb enough to use the more services.

Im not 100% on Uber eats, but I know door dash wants almost 30% of the sale from just the restaurant. Not counting what they get for delivery charge to the customer.

Their grand sales pitch is “well, 70% of an order is better than 100% of the order you wouldn’t get.”, industry standard is 3x what it costs you to deliver it to a customer. One third is supposed to cover cost of goods, one third is supposed to cover operating costs, and one third is supposed to be profit. Yeah, I think my time is worth more than a 3-5% profit on any order.

Since we’re on the topic, LT, how would you like us to commemorate you when the time comes — a special banner? Renaming a thread or forum in your honor?
It’s my plan to outlive all you mugs. As far as enshrinement just send money now. I will see it gets used well.

My Dad, who I don’t speak to anymore, stopped by our establishment this morning and wanted to give me a hug because he’s worried about this virus.

I laughed at him. I let him hug me, and I told him I wasn’t angry, just trying to be my own man and don’t need the bullshit.

I just had to laugh. This isn’t the god damned Black Plague, it’s a virus that kills practically nobody who isn’t already at risk of dying from a bad case of the flu.

I didn’t tell him any of that. I told him he better go out and buy up months worth of shit because we’ll all probably be on mandatory lockdown. Not because I believe it, just because I knew he’d believe it.

Exactly, if they really want to help, waive the 30%+ fees they charge. Better yet, get rid of charging the restaurants altogether and transparently charge the consumer and disclose what the drivers get paid so consumers don't have to wonder if the drivers are getting stiffed.

30+% cost to an industry lucky to have a 10-15% net profit makes delivery services restaurant killers which will eventually cause their own demise when no restaurants remain stupid enough to use their services

I considered it, but opted to have my own app built which was expensive, but it’s mine now.

And we offer delivery, but we deliver it from within, we don’t outsource for that.

I don’t see how it’s profitable other than maybe for the fast food monsters that probably get a sweetheart deal from them for having so many locations.

How long do you figure it will take you to pay back the investment in the app?

I won’t have a reasonable projection for at least a few more months.

App orders make up about 30% of our overall orders per day right now.

If it remains steady as it is, 20-24 months give or take, but I would hope it can continue to grow. We currently have about 150 users that have used the app and close to 300 overall. We haven’t really pushed it as hard as we could. There have been a few glitches along the way and we’re still playing with it.

If I could recoup the investment in under 20 months, I’d be very happy with that.

Even 24 months to pay back that type of investment isn't bad.

Oddly enough, most of the app orders are specialty coffees and milkshakes, which I didn’t anticipate.

We do have a fair amount of evening food orders th

To finish my thought above, it blows my mind how many people make orders for coffees/milkshakes, and will pay a $2 delivery fee on top just to take it a mile down the road.

Theyll have to send in the S.W.A.T to shut me down.

I just talked to my main supplier and he told me they won’t be shutting down because they supply hospitals. I asked if there was a scenario where they are fully functional but wouldn’t be able to sell to me, he said no. Business as usual unless something catastrophic were to take place and it was found that the virus has infiltrated the food supply.
Not great advertising.., hospital food sucks.

:lol

I said the exact same thing, but he assured me they supply them mostly with paper and plastic products.

Hospital food is more of a sysco type product that comes pre-made.
