It's kind of obvious, even though it's counter-intuitive on the surface. If your run game has run into a wall it's usually because the other team is working hard to stop it. Abandon the run and they won't have to do that anymore, you'll see nickel defenses and all out pass rushes.True. Parcells used to advocate that. Even if it's not effective running the ball makes a difference.
