No kidding, I scrolled through the impeachandremove hashtag yesterday and the amount of people who think he'll actually be removed today is astounding
People are fucking idiots. Some of them live in such a delusional world they truly believe impeach means to remove. Cocaine Mitch hasn't even gotten hold of this charade yet. When he does this is going to be glorious.

I recall that someone we both know at one time thought impeachment meant removal.

I looked at the hashtag Merryimpeachmas :doh and I didn't even see too much about how this plays out down the road.

They just seem overjoyed at Trump being harassed and upset today, right now. I'm not sure a lot of them are even thinking that this might make it more likely he gets re-elected.

A few even seemed to realize he'll likely win in 2020, so they're happy to be causing him as much pain as possible now.

Totally bizarre. I really wish Twitter had never been invented.

You will have to refresh my memory.
Sometime back impeachment was being discussed and the account of the Clinton Impeachment was raised. There was a response from someone that said Clinton wasn’t impeached he finished his term or something to that effect. That’s what I remember from a certain party. :)

My memory is terrible so it is no big surprise that I don't remember that. Impeachment doesn't really mean anything without a Senate trial and conviction.

Right and even then it doesn’t necessarily remove the President from office. Clinton was adhjucated through Congress and impeached but retained office. As you indicated, Impeachment to remove requires a trial. Clinton’s impeachment had no trial

Although, it’s too late already for them. Trump will win again, and I believe they’ve already damaged themselves to the point where the GOP will regain the house, too.
It's very possible. I think they were kinda damned if they do, damned if they don't. They painted him into something he wasn't, and once their lies about Russia and collusion were all exposed as that, lies, and the economy remained strong, Trump's position as an incumbent made him the favorite for re-election.

They know they are fighting against the current and this was the hail-mary -- the only way to beat him in 2020 is to attach a real scandal to him. But this could be backfiring too.

I have the hearing on in the other room, and it's obvious the Dems all got together and decided to repeat "No one is above the law" and "Threat to our democracy/republic/constitution" and "abuse of power" and the other catch phrases as many times as possible.

Just pitiful.

Hey LT Fan, I'm old enough to remember the Clinton impeachment but didn't follow it closely. Were the Pubs like this? I hope not.

Yes but in a different way. Clinton was actually railroaded because it all started with one allegation known as Whitewater which was a financial transaction that was supposed to be irregular but actually wasn’t.. I can say that with some authority because I am fully briefed on this matter. It all morphed to the Monica Lewinsky matter but came down to lying under oath and that is what nailed him because it was a criminal matter. The difference in the proceedings is that Clinton’s matter was handled by a Special Proscuetor as opposed to Trump being done as a Congressional matter.
