Of course those would be who we turn to.

Broaddus said that he's "done." So that's what the team must think as well.
Yea, I bet he'd be singing a different tune if he was on the roster. I'd like to see what he'd have to say about some of the OG's on the current roster if they were free agents right now.

Damn near every Dallas Cowboy from the 1990s has asked for Jerry Jones to present them into the HoF. Only Troy strayed from the path.

Stock Report: Ernie Sims moves up and Eric Rogers is down

August, 4, 2013

By Calvin Watkins | ESPNDallas.com

OXNARD, Calif. -- After two weeks of training camp practices we have another version of our Stock Report.

Stock Up

Terrance Williams. The rookie wide receiver won't play in Sunday's preseason opener against the Miami Dolphins because of a concussion but he's improved his route running and making catches in traffic. The mental mistakes are still slowing him down, but he's No. 3 on the depth chart and gets off the jam while running from the slot. Tony Romo is also trusting more in the offense.

Dez Bryant. Enough can't be said about Bryant. He did miss four days of practice with a sore hip and quad. When Bryant returned he made a tough end zone catch against tight coverage from Brandon Carr in a one-on-one drill. Bryant continues to run solid routes from different parts of the line of scrimmage and is catching all sorts of balls. He did have one drop, but you give him a pass because he's been so good.

J.J. Wilcox. He's the personal protector on the punt unit, the only rookie on the special teams and he's making plays on the ball at safety. Against the run, Wilcox continues to display toughness and isn't afraid of contact. When receivers and tight ends run around after catching a pass, Wilcox is bringing them down.

Ernie Sims. It's easy to forget about one of the top backup players on the Cowboys. Sims can move into a starting role if necessary and play the weak side linebacker spot if needed. Sims has been physical and is playing with a quiet confidence.

George Selvie. Stephen Jones said it's hard for players to come off the street and make an impact. Well here's Selvie getting snaps with the first-team at defensive end and getting at least three sacks over a 48-hour period. Selvie has to play well in the preseason to make a case for the 53-man roster and there's a chance he just might.

Stock Down

Eric Rogers. We praised Rogers' spark after a week of camp, but he's slipped. He's been chastised for some mental mistakes and is still learning how to run routes. Rogers has great hands, but his lack of speed and the mental mistakes are hurting him.

Kevin Kowalski. It's not that he's playing badly, because he's not, it's just that his knee surgery is putting him behind for one of the backup guard spots. If the Cowboys don't startMackenzy Bernadeau at right guard, David Arkin and Kowalski were competing for the first-team. With Kowalski out and Bernadeau returning from injury, Kowalski is getting behind.

Gavin Escobar. When James Hanna was out with a hamstring injury it was time for the second-round pick from San Diego State to emerge. Well he didn't. Escobar hasn't made any standout plays in the time Hanna was out and he's still struggling with his blocking. Maybe Escobar will get better after he plays against the Dolphins on Sunday.

Nate Livings. The left guard is out for nearly a month recovering from knee surgery, however, in the handful of practices he was on the field, he struggled. Yes, he was rusty, as Jason Garrett pointed out, but Ronald Leary moved up the depth chart shared snaps with him on the first-team.

Kyle Wilber. He moved into the starting lineup at defensive end as Anthony Spencerrecovered from knee surgery. Wilber lost the gig to Ben Bass and is on the second-team. Asking Wilber to move from outside linebacker to defensive end might have been to much.

Maybe he's like Tebow.

Sub par practice player but lights it up in the final minutes of a game.

It's Escobar Time? :shrug

Dallas Cowboys rookie WR Terrance Williams says he doesn’t have a concussion and expects to play at Oakland

CANTON, Ohio – Dallas Cowboys rookie wide receiver Terrance Williams said he doesn’t have a concussion and expects to play in the second preseason game Friday at Oakland.

Williams suffered a blow to the head in practice Friday when he collided with cornerback Brandon Underwood trying to make a catch in a passing drill. Williams, the third-round pick from Baylor, was tested for a concussion and didn’t play in the first preseason game Sunday night against Miami.

“They were just being cautious,” Williams said. “I’m fine.”

Cowboys coach Jason Garrett also said he was optimistic that Williams could play Friday against Oakland, though he said he’s day-to-day.

“We don’t think what he has is a serious issue,” Garrett said.

Well, that's good news. Beasley just flatout isn't going to cut it.

Injury concerns: Safety Matt Johnson was off to a good start as he started the game, but he was hurt tracking down Bumphis on a 45-yard catch-and-run. He suffered a left ankle sprain and did not return. Defensive end Ben Bass hurt his left knee and did not return to the game, but appeared to be fine on the sideline. He did not go to the locker room for an X-ray and he did not receive extra attention from the athletic training staff. Tanner hurt his left arm in the first quarter but was able to return to the game.

I wonder if they're going to "red shirt" Matt Johnson again if he has another injury filled preseason like last year.

Nope. He doesn't have the tools to be a regular WR, only a shifty slot guy who doesn't command attention. Its why I was hoping Coale would come around.

Reading this makes me angry.

Not only is he brittle, he didn't really look good at all. I'm not seeing what ANY of the talk on him was based on. He may be smart and all, but he is seriously lacking in speed. That's friggin Miami. Wait till Victor Cruz is up to the plate, Nicks.

Wilcox has the speed and ability, he just was out of position a couple times where it showed. I'm still excited about Wilcox, but now that I've seen him in coverage against mediocre NFL competition, I'm not impressed. He has some work to do.

Terrance Williams Expected To Return Soon To Practice

CANTON, Ohio – The only Cowboys rookie draft pick not on the field for Sunday’s Hall of Fame Game may be back sooner than initially anticipated.

Wide receiver Terrance Williams, who came down awkwardly after going up for a pass during the Cowboys’ last practice before the preseason game against the Dolphins, may be able to practice this week.

Williams fell on his back and appeared to be getting checked for a concussion on the sidelines before leaving for the day. He didn’t play in Sunday’s game.

Head coach Jason Garrett said he thinks the team will get Williams back this week.

“We’ll take it day by day, but we don’t think what he has is a serious issue,” Garrett said as he walked off the field in Canton.

Williams said the night before the Hall of Fame Game that he would be fine. The Cowboys’ next preseason game is four days away against the Raiders on Aug. 9, so Williams would need to get back quickly to be ready for that.

Starting to watch the replay sober this time and it is clear that we will end up being a left handed running team.
