Rangers suck. Try and salvage one game over the O's, will ya please?

It was suppose to be Olt, Rameriz, CJ Edwards, and SS Sardinas for Garza and another player. Think it was James Russell.

I don't know anything about Russell but that package makes me want to give up baseball. Hopefully it stays dead.
Russell is a good reliever. That's 2 difference makers for this years playoff push. Can't expect to get that for peanuts.

Unfortunately those two can't score runs. The team needs more than to overpay for a two month rental and yes that's more than what I would pay for Garza and a good reliever. Maybe my mind would be at ease if our offense wasn't so damn inconsistent.

I say this as an Orioles fan and outside observer, but the Rangers are the worst base-running team I've seen in my life

I know all the talk about getting a pitcher is relevant, but damn the Rangers need a bat or 2. And at least one of them needs to be a big bat. Holding a team to or less does no good if you can't score more than 1 G damnit@!@&@@

Looks like we will be having a funeral for the 2013 Texas Rangers season. Just too many injuries to starting pitching and the offense is a joke.

Too many holes to fix mid season.

Marlon Byrd hits his 17th HR and raises his average to .277. He does not say hello though...he is playing hard to get.

Give me Sardinas!

I'm hoping no trades are made for rentals or players having a career year at the age of 35 or older.

David Price says hello.
I'm actually more concerned with the offense. Next year going forward we will have the injured ones back and Perez is making a case to stay in the bigs. Price is nice but Stanton or Cargo is better.... at least for this team

Cargo is going to be a Met. We have long coveted him.

Enjoy Andre Ethier.

Not sure if they're going to be overpaying or not but a deal between the Cubs and Rangers for Garza now seems imminent:

Rangers, Cubs Nearing New Deal For Garza
By Steve Adams [July 22, 2013 at 3:54pm CST]

Last Friday's Matt Garza trade talks between the Rangers and Cubs fell apart due to concerns following the exchange of medical reports. Roughly 72 hours later, Ken Rosethal of FOX Sports reports that Garza is unlikely to make his start for the Cubs tonight because a new trade between the two sides is near (Twitter link).

ESPN's Jerry Crasnick chimes in as well, noting that trade talks between the two sides are indeed back on, and an official from another team interested in Garza said the Rangers are "making a big push" to acquire him (Twitter links).

Reports last week mentioned third baseman Mike Olt and right-handers Neil Ramirez and C.J. Edwards as possible pieces heading from Texas to Chicago in the deal. It's unclear which prospect's medical reports triggered a red flag, however. The Cubs are said to have a slight preference for pitching prospects rather than position players in any Garza trade.
Tweets coming through now. Sounds like Olt is coming for sure:

RT @jeffwilson_fwst: #Rangers, Cubs never quit talking Matt Garza. Deal just needed to be refined. name that could be involved: Joseph Ortiz

RT @jeffpassan: Mike Olt is going to the Cubs.

RT @ken_rosenthal: Source: #Cubs will acquire Triple A IF Mike Olt, Single A RHP C.J. Edwards and a third player from #Rangers for Garza.

:towel

Love what I've been hearing about this CJ Edwards guy. Also, I saw Olt blast a dinger off of Jake Arrieta in Round Rock on Saturday. Hopefully he's turning it around.

If its Olt and Ortiz I can handle that. If its olt, Ortiz, and Rameriz I can handle that as well.

I really hate that Edwards is included on a 2 month rental.

Along with Joseph Ortiz being mentioned above I have seen others mention Roughned Odor as the third guy. If it's him them I have to seriously wonder whether we need to keep JD.

Now they need to go get a bat or two or this trade is worthless.

I'm definitely intrigued by Edwards. You shouldn't feel too bad about Olt. I'm happy to get him but he's no sure thing anymore. Still, very good return on Garza, IMO.

I guess it must have been Neil Ramirez's medical report that the Cubs didn't like.

I thought I heard that he was pulled from his start on Friday. I just assumed it was because he was traded and never checked back. I just hate rentals. Texas has a hard time signing pitchers as it is. Its just sucks throwing out prospects when the return is questionable. Very questionable when you consider how poorly the offense is. They have to get a bat or this trade is basically just to watch Garza up close for two months.

RT @jeffpassan: Final deal: Cubs trade Matt Garza to the Rangers for Mike Olt, C.J. Edwards, Justin Grimm and PTBNL.

Grimm too? No way. I'm going to have to see something official before I totally buy that this is the deal.
