The shift in our country to the left is permanent it seems.

This is not an attempt to throw rocks at anyone or cause a problem....buuuuut there is a boy at my son's school who wears full makeup, heels and dresses to school. He was just voted homecoming king this past week. I'm not mad or anything but it was just a really good picture of where we are as a society. Keep in mind that this is a small country school in a farming community. In Texas. This is supposed to be conservativeVille.

Homosexuality is rewarded these days. Those are the people that our kids look up to. Popularity can actually be gained by other kids if you are openly gay. In many instances it is actually an advantage. I know, suicide, sad kids and all of that. I don't disbelieve that stuff.

It wasn't long ago that you were considered a person to look up to if you were a strong Christian that stood out because you didn't fall into normal teenage traps.

That has all changed. Some will take this all as some judgment on gays. I'm just making an observation of how life as we know it is different than even 20-30 years ago. With a movement of our kids to pretty leftist viewpoints I'd imagine this deal is here to stay.

:lol normally you should never trust a post like this from me. I honestly am not. In the bible belt I think that what I said is fairly accurate.

Unfortunately our country has been a two party system. Christians on the right and secular on the left. Obviously that is an extremely oversimplified statement but I think it is mostly true. As we go through the years the current couple of generations and the one coming up will be liberals. I think that we are in the post-Christian America currently, no? Its been heading that way for a long time.

That's why everyone should become Libertarians. You can still keep your brain and you morals (or lack thereof ohhhhhh)

I think you're confusing tolerance with being a liberal...

Yeah this changed a very long time ago kids stoped looking up to tht type in the 60's.

Was that your role model?

Going by what you have posted here about your past it does seem like it?

I think there's an interesting thing happening courtesy of modern media. No one want to be a family man. And with good reason. Not only has the media inundated us with doofus archetypes like Al Bundy, Homer Simpson, Ray Romano and Tim Allen for the last few decades, as a natural backlash to all of the Ward Clever/"father knows best" types. Frankly family men just seem to have really shitty lives. It seems like the worst deal possible. So I would say that is likely the death of the "good Christian role model", a mixture between everyone seeing how much of a screw job it is being a family man, and the media endlessly shitting on it.

As far as everyone lavishing some kid in a dress with complements. It's a bunch of people falling all over themselves to try and make up for like thousands of years for being shitty to transgender types. This is why an ostensibly terrible person like Caitlyn Jenner gets treated like Buzz fucking Aldrin. Because we're trying really hard to make it seem like everyone's totally cool (plus, as a pretty serious effort to piss off people who aren't) with whatever gender anyone tries to be. Because we want them to stop killing themselves, and we're willing to make a dog and pony show of it, to accomplish that.

Not really. Celebrating something, encouraging it and even making it a potential benefit is a change in values.

The point wasn't really about gays. That was just an example that I've experienced in the last several days. The point was that I believe that the shift to the left is not going anywhere anytime soon. You disagree on that?

My role model was Scarface when I was a kid. He's who I wanted to be.

I think millenials will naturally shift further right once they're the ones earning the big bucks and those shitbags in Generation Z are trying to get meat eating outlawed. I think we're riding out the worst part of a particularly rough generational divide. So conservative is the very most irrational right wing, and liberal the most bleeding heart uncompromising left wing, out of mutually fueled spite.

I don't know about that. I think the gay/transgender issue is just becoming less decisive between the parties. Meaning the younger portion of the right is far more tolerant of it. I don't think the majority of people vote based on a gay straight issues. At least in my opinion that isn't really what defines either party.

The fact that Obamacare was widely hated, tells me the Right side is alive and well on important issues.

I agree with this and that's why I think the Republican party has been mind-bendingly stupid for obsessing over it, though I expect a lot of the Republican congress loved talking about gay marriage to distract the base from the fact that they haven't been attempting to pass any useful legislation. It's a lot easier to be a pretend conservative when you only talk about issues that you can't do anything about.

I very well be out of touch. I live in my own little world where I pretend that politics don't exist.
