What really stands out is that he was the only cop there who seemed to be all worked up.

The pulling of the gun was especially egregious.

Did you see anything to refute this?
No, but I didn't say anything that should have made you think you needed to reply. Unless you thought by saying "there obviously wasn't any going on at present when this video was taken" was insinuating that I was saying there were copious amounts of fighting going on.

I was not making any judgements just stating what I saw being reported.

Sorry you felt slighted.............or something.:unsure

Jesus Christ. You are the most argumentative person on this board. You even have to try to start arguments when someone agrees with you. Just fucking scale it back. My god.

That's the point that all of his supporters keep missing or refusing to acknowledge.

If his actions were justified and he was deserving of a medal, then why weren't the other 11 officers on the scene dropping F-bombs, manhandling teens, and being confrontational to every minority in sight? Were they derelict in their duties? Did they freeze up in fear after being faced by dozens of teens in bathing suits?

Common sense says that if 11 guys are relatively calm/professional and 1 guy is hyper-aggressive the actions of that 1 guy might not be appropriate.

The police chief comes out and says that ol' super trooper was the only one of 12 cops who didn't respond properly....said he was out of control as soon as he came on the scene. Yet you still have people holding on to their biased opinion that this guy did nothing wrong and reacted appropriately. Those are the people that I wouldn't mind seeing on the other end of one of these incidents. Experience has a way of changing one's perspective.

Spot. On.

Some people are going to side with the cops in nearly every instance. I have never understood the "Well, he is a police officer so he deserves the benefit of the doubt" angle. Why is that? Because all cops are swell guys simply because they have a badge? :rolleyes Please.

I feel bad for truly good cops because there are a ton of jerkoff cops like this guy that come along and fuck things up. I mean look, in this particular instance 11 of the 12 cops went about their job professionally but you have the one yahoo to bring negative attention. It's too bad.

It's even worse when the one fuckup has stripes on his shoulder. Who promoted that guy?

A Miami high school principal got fired today for simply posting this in the comments section of a web article covering the incident.

"He did nothing wrong. He was afraid for his life. I commend him for his actions."

While I don't agree with his opinion I think the response was pretty harsh and it's wrong for the man to lose his job for those comments.

The school is predominantly black so my feeling is it was a preemptive firing to keep the peace and appease the community.

Honestly I would not have even minded if the cop in McKinney just walked up and pepper sprayed everybody. From everything I've heard this was tantamount to riot. You don't pull out your weapon though. These kids were being obnoxious and stupid, but none of them deserved to be shot.

I don't buy that it was a riot. I know the racists who called the cops in the first place said so, but the other 11 cops on the scene didn't react that way.

Yeah I'm not sure what makes you think this was a riot. Did you see a bunch of picture of smashed windows and destroyed property or something?

What I've heard, the teens were trespassing, harassing the actual inhabitants of the community, stopping cars, and refusing to vacate private property. Maybe it wasn't a full on riot, but at that point I'm pretty sure you should get pepper sprayed into compliance.

Where are you hearing this from?

Because nothing even remotely close to that can be seen in any of the video shown.

A lot of stuff from people in the community, they talked about it and had some people call/write in to The Ticket when I was listening. It might be bunk, but that was what I had heard.

Yeah there have been some differing reports but it all seems overblown by a few.

I suspect the truth is somewhere in between. Apparently that cop had to respond to two different suicides that day, including a boy who blew himself away in front of his family. So I'm guessing he was absolutely not in a state of mind to have a gun on him. He obviously should have lost his job for what happened, but man, that's shitty.
