The inside story of how La'el Collins became a Dallas Cowboy

I'm all for improvement, but the writer made Leary out as a schlub...he was good last year.
I feel like he was really good for most of last year but he seems to wear down at the end of the season. At the end of 2013 Bernadeau was playing better than Leary but Leary was clearly the better guard in TC in 2014. Fast forward to the end of 2014 again and he didn't look as good as he did early.

You do realize that Collins will be the RT when all is said and done, right?
I don’t think that is a given...if he is really good at G not sure why he'd be moved.

I think we did address that. Either with Collins or Green. Maybe not this year, but the next 2 or 3.
Which shows just how comfortable the team was with Leary.

So now where you were rated means it will automatically transfer in the NFL.

I guess all of those 1st round OL bust must have missed the memo.

I am loathe to go here concerning Collins because I hope its not a competition and he beats out Leary easily, but I also raelize rookies have trouble sometimes getting acclimated or just do not perform at the level exspected.
Of course not. At this point I am still projecting based on the information prior to the draft. All we have seen on the field is the rookies getting coached on how the team works, how practices run, etc.

It's about the same as those projecting that the rushing attack is going to suck because Murray is gone.

I agree. The path seemed to be the same for Martin last year so we thought. Doubt they move him now. It would be awesome if both Collins and Green excelled at G and T. We would have a truly amazing line until the contracts start coming up.

I've never said they weren't. But keep in mind Leary is a FA after this year. It wouldn't surprise me at all if they let him walk.

Where have you been? Every time I suggest Leary has serious flaws I get ridiculed.

He's our worst OL, except for when Free has his struggles. If Collins is for real, he'll beat out Leary.
He will, though Collins has to knock it out of the park for this to happen by opening day.

We did average over 6 ypc behind the left side of our O-line. Obviously Tyron is a big part of it but Leary was a hell of a mauler on that side.
I think he is a mauler for like 3/4 of a season then his explaoding knees act up. He didn't seem like the same guy late in the year.

He is the worst player on the best OL in football. I think he's flawed, but definitely good enough to start. Late in the year he performed well and in the playoffs too. His choke-hold on Suh was masterful.

People keep saying Leary wore down at the end of the year, the job he did on Suh says otherwise.

The player that wore down looking at his play was Martin admittedly he was banged up but he did struggle more late in the year.

I was real impressed with Leary pulling and blocking in space. If Collins beats him I'd like for him to at least try his hand at center so he could be the primary back up for all three interior line spots.

There were times early in the year though were Leary was flat out dominant. I mean just blowing guys up. I think he does tend to tire out a little as the season goes on. He wasn't bad by any means by the end of the year but he wasn't knocking everyone 3 yards backwards either. Still his run blocking ability was a big reason for Murray's high YPC. I really like Collins and think he has similar mauler type ability but I'm not that eager to throw Leary away.

The Suh who had 2 sacks for the Lions defense that gave our offense fits till late?

I know the sacks were back to back but that wasn't the only game to point to.

He did great against Watt but then against the Redskins he was quite bad. He's just been an inconsistent player at times.

As the weakest part of the line there's not too much to complain about as long as he's cheap, but Collins is a stud. There shouldn't be any comparison when both get on the field.

They were not all against Leary and both were coverage sacks.

Remember the stud that was supposed to be Warmack when he came out or your man crush Decastro?

Just saying everybody is not plug and play and to rush Collins ahead of a player who has demonstrated an ability to work well within this system and play at a high level is fooloish.

People act like he is replacing Nagy.

This isn't true at all. Worst thing I've seen is serviceable and Nagy was nowhere near that.

Yeah, there is quite a bit of exaggeration going on here...between this and the all world stuff...peeps be silly.

I was more alluding to the fact that some think it will be an easy job to beat him out not the talent level.

I think serviceable drastically sells the guy short. People just seem to have really short memories about some of these players and what they actually looked like during the season.

Wow, I didn't realize some thought of Leary as all-world. Sorry, but I'm not buying it, nor have I seen it.
I like Leary a lot but he is definitely upgradeable.
