What RB are you trading for from Philly? If we wanted either of their guys we would have signed them in the first place.

Hey, maybe we should see if we can trade him for Ajayi...
well yeah, it's just that we each need a position that the other has in excess. Not that it would ever happen.

Collins has to beat Leary out 1st but that will be a hell of a competition.

I think Collins starts camp as the number one LG. There will be no competition. Nor should there be.

I think the real question is if he should be starting out at LG or RT. I'm not sure who the weaker starter is between Leary and Free. Long term Leary is younger and probably has more career in front of him. Free on the other hand is sign past this up coming year so he may be in Dallas longer.

I don't know, wouldn't want to confuse Collins but I'm torn on what position I'd start out playing him at. I'd be tempted to put him at RT and leave him there. Talk about a right side of the O-line that could just destroy people. Frederick, Martin and Collins is a pretty powerful group. Of course so is Frederick, Collins and Smith.

I don't think RT is even a consideration.

Collins is more comfortable on the left side. He has only played snaps at LT and LG. The times he played RT at the Senior Bowl practices were rough.

We don't need to make this complicated. Make it easy for him and turn him loose.

I just finished watching Collins' introductory press conference. I came away very impressed with him. Seems like a very bright young man, with an incredible outlook on life.

He sounds like the kind of guy who's easy to root for. He's only been a Cowboy for a few hours and he's already one of my favorite players on the team.

He was incredibly impressive. Well grounded, smart, determined. You name it.

And he is a nasty SOB on the field to boot.

I think you're probably right. The next question then is, do you try Leary at RT at all? He was a college OT. If you try him there he has way more value as a backup with the potential to beat out Free.

LOL.. I forgot Leary is Jiggys pet cat.

I do feel a little sorry for Leary but at least he will be good depth for this year.

Trade him to Tampa for Doug Martin. :towel

I can't really dispute the people who say that Doug Martin is not really an upgrade since he has been hurt and/or garbage since that big rookie season, but he is definitely a guy I would take a low-cost chance on. His OL/offense in general in Tampa has been bad. I'd roll the dice that he can make something happen in Dallas' O.

That's from a reddit thread about the Collins signing. And from an Eagles fan, no less. :lol

The responses to that comment were funny, too...

Man, the Cowboys could send 5 offensive lineman to the Pro Bowl, that hasn't happened since... well, the last time the Cowboys sent 5 offensive lineman to the Pro Bowl...

What does pet cat have to do with anything?

Leary is a very good G and I know we have gotten spoiled around here but Collins is a rookie, thinking he walks in as a automatic upgrade is not being rational.

If he beats him out fine but its not going to be a cakewalk and will he be that much better that you are willing to go through the rookie growing pains?

Just following the celebration on this thread has been cathartic. Having to deal with a decade of mostly poor GMing, and a couple good years of GMing that we've had to wait and see for, watching a Patriots style offseason, and getting to watch the board (which is sooo cynical ) homer out for it, has been amazing.

Most of this board is cynical (for good reason) but there are a lot of very smart fans here that aren't irrational. We have been waiting a long damn time for this. Just f'ing amazing.
