They are both somewhat underwhelming picks at a position of need that should, worst case, be long time contributors. Obviously Frederick ended up being more than that, and hopefully Jones does too. It isn't really what I wanted, but I don't think it was a bad pick.
Yeah but most experts had Jones pegged as a solid first round pick. He had great workouts which helped his stock to be on the rise leading up to the draft.

Frederick was a guy who a lot of so called "experts" didn't think was a first round pick. He had bad workouts leading up to the draft which really were the reason for his drop.

Both Watkins and Evans would've still gone before them and they would've been in the conversation with Beckham, one of them probably would've went between 10-15 while the other around 16-18. A guy like Scherff probably would've went around the same time as Martin and Flowers definitely would've been a guy who went around 25, unless the Dolphins decided to go with him instead of that massive reach in James due to their insistence on drafting a RT.
I agree about the other guys but I think Cooper would have been still in the running for top wideout, White would have been in probably on the outside looking in but you also have to factor in team needs.

I just don't think Watkins and Evans are that much better prospects than Cooper and White, they all have some similar traits.

Funny how fan perception of a player fluctuates. Sterling Moore is now looked at as some kind of good player. He was a JAG. Certainly nothing special. But now that he's gone and people have a predisposition against taking that position in the draft, he's looked back at fondly as being better than he really was. The complete opposite has happened to Demarco Murray. He in fact WAS a special player for us last year. But he's now looked at as some kind of easily replaced spare part. Because people like the position and like the players in the draft this year. And because he is now an Eagle. Go figure...

I'm the one that brought up Moore, and my perception of him has never changed. I liked him from the beginning. He's nothing special. But he's pretty good for what resources you put into him. I would have been happy to dump Claiborne and go in with Scandrick, Carr, Moore, and Patmon , plus draft a midround Scandrick type. I think we'd have been better off with that plus Brown or Gregory.

I think the big thing is getting rid of Carr now and saving the money against the cap now and long term. That money is going to help resign Dez long term and hopefully lock someone up like Hardy on a deal if he proves his worth this year. We all saw what free agent corners were going for. There is actually some advantage to not spending that money on a corner and having it to spend somewhere else. Although I know the argument of some is that corners don't matter much and all you need is a pass rush. If that was the case though Scandrick would have looked pretty similar to Carr in coverage last year. I don't think anyone is dumb enough to make that argument.

Love the player but it all depends on the knee. If he needs microfracture surgery in the next few years I'm out. I know some on this board want to pretend like the knee concerns are a hoax but if there is legitimacy to it expect the guy to fall hard.
C-rock, it's only a problem if it happens this season because Dallas can draft a new back next year.

Talent wise he's outstanding and worth the risk. He thrived in college so it's hard to believe he's going to be suddenly crippled when he maes his first NFL carry.

Many players recovered from ACL injuries, and his was 4 years ago. Through 400 touches last season his knee showed no sign of wear.

CBS's report is shady, too. They say "concerns" we're reported at the Indy medical re-check-- but Ajayi never attended the recheck.

Nothing from Indy ever cast doubt on his knee, then suddenly some team leaks "concerns"? Wouldn't surprise me if that team was Dallas.

Have we really shown any interest in Duke Johnson? From what I've seen of him he avoids contact like the plague. I don't know how good of a fit he really is for what we need.

If I am going DT in the 2nd I want a 3 tech and nickel rush guy, I like Davis for that role.

And we need our backs to pass block in Dallas. Duke might be explosive but if he telegraphs intent to run or leaves us effectively 10 on 11 on passing downs we simply can't use him.

Wait, so you would use a second round pick on him if he only plays one year in Dallas?

It's not just one report about his knee by the way.

"Several executives" told the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel they've either removed Boise State RB Jay Ajayi from their draft boards or "backed way off" because of how their medical staffs evaluated Ajayi's knee. - Rotoworld.com

Boise State running back Jay Ajayi is one of the most talented and productive running backs in the 2015 NFL Draft class. But the long-term durability of his right knee is a “strong” concern, according to several league sources. Ajayi injured his right knee in October 2011 and has dealt with cartilage issues in that knee over his career. - national.suntimes.com

I'm not saying it couldn't be teams blowing smoke but as fans we really don't know at this point.

I think Carl Davis is the perfect combination for this defense. A guy who is big and strong enough to play next to Crawford but also freakishly athletic enough to actually create a pass rush and push the pocket. I think he could play the 1 technique or the 3 technique here. I'd love to see what he could do with a guy like Marinelli riding his ass and a guy like Hardy pushing him to give 100% on every play.

Except for Allen, that's a nice list.
