Jones already has signed his restricted free-agent tender from the Cowboys for the 2015 season. He will make up to $4.2 million, including $750,000 in guaranteed signing bonus money, over the next three years, a source told ESPN's Field Yates.

Jones, 25, averaged 45.4 yards per punt last season, his fourth with the Cowboys.

Jones has been Dallas' regular punter in each of the past two seasons and has averaged 45.0 yards per punt over his career.

That is a lot of money to pay to a holder.

I have no problem with this. Jones is an above avg punter, and his salary is still not amongst the league leaders at the position. In fact, he's only the 21st highest paid punter with this extension. http://overthecap.com/position/punter/

His punting has improved enough, and Bailey works well with him. Joke all you want, but there's something to be said about the chemistry between a holder and a kicker.

Jones isn't a very good punter though, and we should be looking to find an upgrade.

This is a false hood that has gained legs and I don't know why.

He had the 9th best gross punting average and the 6th best net punting average, what about those numbers are not very good?

Jones is good enough. You don't really have to worry about punts or FG holds and he hasn't been hurt. I'm fine with this. I think people were just spoiled by McBriar.
