NFLDraftCountdown has us going Shaq Thompson, Michael Bennett, Duke Johnson. I'd sincerely hate that.
Wouldn't care for it either.

I can pretty much assure you we won't take Duke Johnson. Not a fit.

Now Thompson, maybe and that bugs me a bit.

He's a great athlete but when people can't decide if he's a LB, RB or S, that's a bit troubling.

Even if he was a LB soley, I don't see some great skill that makes me think he can beat Hitchens out for a job. Honestly, I'd rather go CB if he's the alternative.

If they are seriously considering shaq thompson, i'd prefer to go RB first round or even CB. I just don't want the player because of exactly what you said. These are the players Jerry likes the most.

The guy weighed in at 219 lbs near the end of his season. I'm sure he weighed more then that to start the season. At the combine he came in at 228 lbs. Most guys put weight on when they enter the NFL, so lets not be an extremest here. The guy is a freak athlete and tremendous in coverage. The biggest requirement in our defensive system is that the weakside LBer is a stud in coverage.
Evena WLB has to take on blockers or they run at him all day.

He is not that great a athlete to not have a distinct position to take in the 1st.

In an ideal world your WLBer isn't taking on blockers often. He is a guy you want flying to the ball and more or less avoiding the blockers. Not necessarily taking on blocks and shedding them.

I assume he thinks he will be long gone by our pick. Or just had a scheduling conflict. If it's because he thinks he will be gone by our pick he is an idiot. Teams move up all the time for franchise players. Not to mention another visit just shows other teams how "popular" you are and makes it more likely you get drafted.

Cowboys to visit with Dorial Green-Beckham after all

IRVING, Texas -- Wide receiver Dorial Green-Beckham is visiting the Dallas Cowboys after all.

Green-Beckham reportedly turned down the Cowboys' initial request for a pre-draft visit earlier, but, according to a source, he will arrive at Valley Ranch Wednesday. This is the final day potential picks can meet with teams with the draft coming next week.

Green-Beckham is one of the most intriguing prospects in the draft because of his ability and off-field concerns. He was dismissed from Missouri after two seasons in which he was arrested twice for marijuana-related incidents and was investigated for burglary. He spent last year at Oklahoma, did not play because of transfer rules but opted for the draft anyway.

He had 59 catches and 12 touchdowns in 2013 for Missouri. At the NFL scouting combine, he measured in at 6-5, 237 pounds with 4.49-second 40-yard dash and a 33.5 vertical jump.

Of the known pre-draft visitors to Valley Ranch, Green-Beckham is the second receiver, joining Ohio State's Devin Smith.

The Cowboys have Dez Bryant under contract through the franchise tag in 2014, re-signed Cole Beasley to a four-year deal before free agency began and have Terrance Williams under contract for two more years. They also drafted Devin Street in the fifth round last year. Bryant has yet to sign the tender and has not attended the first week of the Cowboys' offseason program.

How is it a smokescreen? I don't think anyone would be fooled into thinking they take him in the first.

I would say it is more lukewarm interest, some Dez Bryant insurance...just in case he slipped somehow to their 2nd round pick.

Makes teams think we are legitimately interested in taking a WR in the first. I don't think there is a chance in hell we take a WR in the first and that's probably what every other NFL team thinks but I'm also not entirely sure why we wanted to get him in for a visit at the last minute either. I guess you're right. If he somehow takes a massive tumble to the second round he could be a huge steal that may be too good to pass up.

From Tony Pauline:

– Interesting note. Yesterday a source told me linebacker Benardrick McKinney spent an extensive amount of time the past few days talking with the Denver Broncos and Dallas Cowboys. I previously reported on the Bronocs interest in McKinney and late last week tweeted the Cowboys were able to get in a last minute workout with the junior. Today I’m told if Kevin Johnson is unavailable when the Cowboys are on the clock in round one they will strongly consider either McKinney or Eric Kendricks. I’ve heard so much chatter connecting the Cowboys and McKinney the past three weeks I’ve got to believe where there’s smoke there’s fire.

You'd think if we were that over the top interested we wouldn't have waited until the last minute to bring him in.
