Sure, and don't confuse myself as being excited about McFadden. He is not the free agent back I would have signed. I just have a lot of faith in this Oline. Something Eagles fans can't say.
Eagles fans absolutely do say that. And for good reason.

Despite what he says, there's a good chance the world has seen the best of McFadden. And sadly, it was probably in college.

I wouldn't expect more than 400 or 500 yards from McFadden. Especially since it's pretty likely they draft a lead back.

That their O-line is great? Are you drunk?
A lot of people feel that way, and not just Eagles fans.

They have issues at guard (though Mathis is still solid, assuming they keep him), but a solid center and two of the better tackles in the league (although Peters is aging).

FWIW, PFF has Dallas' line ranked 1st overall for the 2014 season. They ranked Philly #2.

Maybe they were also drunk? But sobered up when they ranked Dallas?

Yup, Philly's OL is pretty good (and actually they graded out better in run blocking than we did last year, though we graded out quite a bit better in pass blocking). The problem that Philly is going to have is that teams are going to stack the box to stop them because they have no receiving threats.

The Eagles OL is very good when it's healthy-- especially on the edges, and with the loss of Iupati the 49ers clearly take a step back. Philly's loss of Todd Herremans is not as severe given his age.

McFadden may be a turd, but who here saw Murray as a candidate to lead the league in rushing heading into the season?

Guys like Ricky Williams, Cedric Benson, and Marshawn Lynch have bounced back from mediocre first teams to being great starters. Not saying it should be expected, but its within the realm of possibility. At least McFadden hasn't had a lot of mileage put on him over the last 7 years.
Cedric Benson is really the only guy from that list that could compare to McFadden.

Ricky and Marshawn had already proven they were pretty good in their first stops, even if they weren't spectacular.

Ricky had back to back 1,000 yard seasons as a Saint before moving onto Miami, and Marshawn Lynch started his career in Buffalo with back to back 1,000 yard seasons, so neither of those guys' improvement on better teams was all that surprising.

I'd say McFadden is a much longer shot to do what those guys did because he did not show the type of production those guys did. He's played 7 seasons in the NFL and only has one 1,000 yard season to show for it......and that is 4 seasons removed now.

He does have some ability and he will have room to run, so it wouldn't surprise me if he made some plays here and there, but I would not expect him to replicate anything even close to what Ricky or Marshawn did on their 2nd teams.

I did.

I always thought Murray was a good player and I thought he'd have a very good year behind this line. I didn't predict he'd be the rushing champ, but it did not surprise me one bit.

Yea, I see that Ravi and 22Cowboysfan said it's supposed to be pretty good, but they were pretty bad last year in run blocking and it was a big reason why McCoy struggled, especially early on.

That's a huge leap in logic. Murray perhaps was not expected to lead the league in rushing, but a large part of that was that (a) we never ran the ball much prior to this season and (b) Murray usually got hurt for a few games. It was never about his talent or production when he had opportunities. Mirray regularly pushed 5 yards a carry.

On the other hand, McFadden's production has been mediocre or less for years now.

They had RT Lane Johnson suspended and injuries to LG Evan Mathis and C Jason Kelce. They also lost their top backup for the entire season in the first game or two.

The saving grace was all that crap happened early on and they got healthy late in the year when they played us of course.

Mathis and Peters are elite linemen, and Kelce made the pro bowl I think.

I just have a hard time assuming McFadden will stink behind this line and with this talented passing attack. Oakland
did him no favors being a cesspool of a club. It would be fun to see Murray plugged into that shit organization for comparative purposes. How do you think he'd fare?

I didn't get it the first time, but now it makes sense.

McCoy was second in the NFC behind Murray, so that group of linemen weren't too shabby.

Yup, even with the injuries / suspensions in the first part of the year, McCoy ran for over 1300 yards and over 4 YPC. Over the last 8 games he ran for 697 yards and averaged 4.6 YPC (which was actually better than Murray's 4.2 YPC over the last 8 games).

And exactly why did Kelly get rid of him? Oh yeah, he wanted Murray. Fucking twisted course of events.
