We're still paying for Miles Austin. :lol
Did we designate him as a June 1st cut? That's the only reason I can think of that he would still be on our books. It's also why I hate the concept of using the June 1st designation.

You pay one way or the other for mistakes. Either in real year cap money or dead money.

I prefer paying as you go, which is hopefully what we do. But that only works if you draft well and do not overreact to singular career years and understand that yes, players to exceed expectations when they know they are due for a new contract.

That's correct. Using a June 1st cut just is a way of kicking the bucket down the road with regards to the cap hit. Which I actually don't have as big of a problem with as some people but by the time the extra cap room is created after June 1st, there really isn't anyone to sign anyway.

Why would anyone kick a bucket down the road? Wouldn't they go with something a little more manageable... like a can?

Kick the bucket means dead, but maybe that is just me.

Everyone has been predicting the demise of the Cowboys and Redskins for years because of the cap. They did the same thing with the Niners back in the early 2000's.

Its really not that big of a deal, outside of signing so- called 'star" players. Which obviously hasn't worked out for us or the Redskins. :lol

No ill will here...he did a good job and I felt like we kept him last year against his wishes, but it looks like it only elevated his value.

Pretty sure that's Callahans way of saying "fuck YOU" to the Jerruh and Garrett.
