at least someone in that organization isn't afraid to speak the truth and call it what it was.

@Edwerderespn: #Packers WR Jordy Nelson on Dez Bryant play: "It stinks for Dez. He made a heck of a play.''

as an aside, for all the faults of this D, one thing they did do is shut this man down. Not many have.

I can't find the replay anywhere; does anyone have the explanation from the on field official as to why the Bryant catch was overturned. If there is a video of the explanation, I'd like to see it.
“Although the receiver is possessiong the football, he must maintain possession of that football throughout the entire process of the catch,” Steratore told a pool reporter after the game. “In our judgment, he maintained possession but continued to fall and never had another act common to the game. We deemed that by our judgment to be the full process of the catch, and at the time he lands and the ball hits the ground, it comes loose as it hits the ground, which would make that incomplete; although he re-possesses it, it does not contact the ground when he reaches so the repossession is irrelevant because it was ruled an incomplete pass when we had the ball hit the ground.”

Asked whether Bryant was down (and the play over) when Bryant’s elbow hit the ground, Steratore said it doesn’t matter.

“When you’re still going through the process of the catch, elbows or knees or irrelevant, he must complete that entire process with the football, maintain possession throughout.”

Though not specifically asked whether the “indisputable visual evidence” standard was met, Steratore said it was clear both to him and to V.P. of officiating Dean Blandino in New York that the ball hit the ground.

“Yes, there were a couple of angles that show the ball actually hitting the ground and then the receiver losing possession of it as well,” Steratore said.

I dont know how you can say that. Hanging and holding on to the ball is hardly a symptom of running scared. If he was scared he would throw it away.
He's scared when instead of throwing the ball away or standing tall in the pocket, he drops and curls into the fetal position anticipating a hit. Half the time it's well before a defender is close to him.

I thought moving toward the goal line was a football move. I think that term needs amplified more.
I agree that showing firm command while falling down was enough demonstration of a football move.

Regarding your second point, I think the NFL needs to eliminate 'football move' and make it less subjective by saying three feet down with possession and the first two feet down being in the field of play.

He hasnt done that for several weeks. He only did that to protect his injured back.

I'm not interested in a mid round project. Next QB I take is to be groomed as a replacement. If Connor Cook had declared, I'd pull the trigger this draft.
Not really a fan of Cook, but I tend to say that about almost every QB. So :unsure

Thanks. Though I was referring to the real time video on the field. I just can't remember what Steratore said at the time; not that it really matters.

Wonder what their explanation is for the "catch" by the Packers right before halftime.

Was he not scared when we just saw him throw with his eyes closed today in anticipation of being hit by Peppers?

See I really like Connor Cook but I don't know how long he will last in the draft a year down the road. Maybe his grade will suffer from the extra year of scrutiny but right at this second I have a hard time seeing him available late in the first.

One word: Bullshit. I scoffed at the 1-3 record(Now 1-4) with this crew working our games the last few years but screw it. If the fix wasn't in someplace, just call me paranoid, I don't care.

That non-PI call against Detroit wasn't a game ender, the game was still in play with plenty of time left. This call clearly altered the outcome of the game, even if it wasn't a TD. This loss stings as much or more than the playoff loss to Seattle on the fumbled FG hold.

I'm just pissed. Pissed that a golden opportunity was yanked away from a team that was as qualified as any other to go all the way this year. I'm going to be reliving that freaking non call just like "The (Fing) Catch".

It a reflex. Have someone throw a punch at you then see if you keep your eyes open.

That might be true. I didn't see that on the broadcasted show. They should put those angles on NFL.com

:rolleyes

That was more BS. Ray Charles could have told you that ball hit the ground. It wasn't a game ender but it was still BS.

I need to go out and find someone with a keg to give me a big old beer enema to flush this season out of my system. What a fricking year, I'm surprised my liver is still intact and that I don't have a bleeding ulcer.

Oh ffs L.T. at least come up with a better excuse than that..we've all seen Romo make that same throw with a defender bearing down on him with his eyes open
