Kind of surprised to see Pellini bite the dust, I don't think he finished with fewer than 9 wins once while at Nebraska,

Not that I pay them much mind but it looks like UAB may be shutting things down:

The University of Alabama-Birmingham appears close to dropping football.

Coach Bill Clark told ESPN.com on Sunday he expects the school to end a program that has struggled financially and on the field for years.

Clark told ESPN.com: "Unless something changes before the weekend ends, I think it's over. I think the odds are very high it ends this week."

Sports Illustrated and USA Today, citing unidentified sources, reported UAB was taking steps to disband the program this week, including letting go athletic director Brian Mackin.

Clark later tweeted: "Contrary to news, We haven't heard any decision about our program. We are still fighting!"

In its first season under Clark, UAB (6-6) is eligible for bowl game for the first time since 2004.

Per the interwebs (footballscoop) Hugh Freeze has been offer a contract with UF for 4.2 per. Then reports say no way but there is smoke.

Also, per the twitters McElwain is the leading candidate.

Patrick Mahomes wins the Big 12 player of the week. I'm guessing there hasn't been another 18 year that has gone for 600 and 6 TDs. It was against Baylors D but still...

Kingsbury is happy with the job that Mike Smith has done. He sees now as an opportunity to add some experience to his coaching staff.

There are some candidates that he will look at before making a decision on Mike Smith. All of the following guys are solid:

Memphis defensive coordinator Barry Odom

Houston defensive coordinator David Gibbs

Kansas interim head coach and defensive coordinator Clint Bowen.

I wouldn't go with Freeze. IMO, he's going to get hit hard someday with a sanction.

When folks start winning big in recruiting there is always those accusations. I'm not saying that I know in this case or anything. Some guys are just good at sales and sales management. That's all recruiting really is.

This is true, but it's just strange that a WGAS program hires a high school coaches and suddenly pulls 5 star recruits from across the nation. It's not like he pulled some of his former players from high school that he had a rapport with.

SEC recruiting is a dirty business. The absolute worst in CFB.

https://espn.go.com/blog/big12/post/_/id/93344/power-rankings-big-12-not-sec-is-no-1

Power rankings: Big 12, not SEC, is No. 1

For the first time in years, the SEC has been knocked off its perch as the top conference in the nation in ESPN Stats and Information’s Conference Power Rankings.

The SEC was 0-4 in its SEC-ACC rivalry games, marking the first time since 2000 that Georgia, Florida and South Carolina each lost to its major in-state rival. The SEC is 5-6 (.455 win pct) in non-conference games against other Power 5 opponents, which ranks third among Power 5 conferences.

Non-Conference Games
vs Power 5 Teams

Record Win pct
Pac-12 8-3 .727
ACC 10-7 .588
SEC* 5-6 .455
Big 12 4-6 .400
Big Ten 6-11 .353
*0-4 vs ACC on Saturday

The race for No. 1, however, is basically a tie between the Big 12 and SEC. The Big 12’s rating is based largely on its strength at the top of the conference, which is measured by the Associated Press poll. The Big 12 has three teams – TCU, Baylor and Kansas State – in the top 10 of the AP poll, the most of any conference. Two of those teams will face off this weekend in Waco, Texas.

The Big 12 has a lower average Football Power Index ranking than the SEC and Pac-12, meaning that despite its strength at the top of the conference, it is not particularly deep. The Big 12 has four teams below 60th in the Football Power Index, which is as many as the Pac-12 and SEC have combined.

Nonetheless, Baylor, TCU and Kansas State are in the midst of strong seasons, and in a 10-team league, that has vaulted the Big 12 to the top of the rankings. In four of the first five College Football Playoff rankings, the Big 12 has been on the outside looking in, but the conference should have a strong argument for inclusion with Tuesday’s release.

The biggest riser in the Conference Power Rankings this week was the ACC. After sweeping the SEC-ACC rivalry games Saturday, the ACC rose 7.0 points to nearly pull even with the Big Ten. Georgia Tech, Clemson and Louisville each rose at least three spots in the AP poll and continued to climb in the Football Power Index.

It has been an up-and-down year for many conferences. The Big Ten was buried early in the year before bouncing back, particularly against the ACC, in Weeks 4 and 5. The ACC was having a down year before it swept the SEC-ACC rivalry series in Week 14. Conference strength will play a role in the College Football Playoff selection, but just as there is not a dominant team this year, there also may not be a dominant conference.

ESPN Stats & Information Conference Power Rankings

Overall Ranking Conference AP Rank FPI Rank Overall Rating Rt Change
1 Big 12 1 3 90.3 2.2

I certainly can't argue discipline or anything but this buddy perception is way overblown.

Report: Florida to contact Chip Kelly

Posted by Mike Florio on December 1, 2014, 2:13 PM EST

Eagles coach Chip Kelly may not be interested in coaching at the University of Florida. But the University of Florida is interested in Kelly.

According to Mark Farzetta of CBS Philly, Florida will contact Kelly as early as Tuesday to gauge his interest in the job.

When Kelly became the head coach of the Eagles, he said he would not be returning to college football. But he could easily go back; the 18-month “show cause” order entered in connection with sanctions against Kelly arising from NCAA violations at Oregon expires on Christmas Day.

It’s unclear whether Kelly’s contract with the Eagles allows him to leave for a return to college football. He had the leverage upon being hired to finagle full control over personnel, despite having no NFL experience. If the Eagles wanted him badly enough, they’d surely consider giving him the ability to leave if he decided to return to college football, like Nick Saban did after two years with the Dolphins.

Leach hired a PR firm to fight public opinion and constantly attack Tech during and far after the fiasco. Clearly it worked on you, Rev and a bunch of people.

Because we didn't need the PR campaign to know he was right.

Speaking of stupid opinions and hero worship concerning this...I ran into a friend of mine who was sporting a Longhorn shirt a few weeks ago. I couldn't understand how a lubbock native and lifetime Tech fan could do this. So I asked him about it. He tells me that since a Leach "got screwed" he can't suport Tech anymore. What a fag.

It is homos like him that I will never understand. He probably reads the AJ and the comments section to get his information the same as you and Rev.
