I think he handled it just fine. A coach shouldn't have to apologize for player criticism. The whole universe can see how poorly he was playing so what can a criticism from the coach hurt. If the rest of the team players have such a brittle mental makeup they should find another game.

I have to give Pettine props.

Most coaches would just leave their QB in and make the change after the game. At least he's trying to shake things to give his team a chance to win the game.

I appreciate that because I've seen Stoops stubbornly stick with struggling QBs instead of giving the back up a shot.
