How are you able to say this with any relative degree of certainty?
He will probably have a shock pad plate on and wear a flak jacket. In addition he probably will not expose his back to extent he did before. There are no guarantees in the sport but he could be perfectly healthy and break a leg. If you are a pro and you can play in all likelihood you will be in the lineup

Yeah, he will probably protect himself by curling up into the fetal position at the snap if the DL gets a good jump.

I'm fully prepared for more Weeden on Sunday and if that's the case the coaches need to pull their heads out of their ass and actually get creative with the game plan. They make it way too easy for our outside WRs to be shut down.

We need more motion, bunch formations, rub routes, etc.

That's the only way we win with Weeden under center.

Or Weeden could actually throw it to the wide open little white guy.

I think you have to play Romo even if he's only 75%.

The division is shaping up for a Cowboys run...Foles out, Giants are devastated with injuries....Skins are done.

If theres a Division title out there, its probably this year.

It possible Sanchez steps in and keeps the Eagles humming but I have my doubts. Watching Eli and the Giants D...well, not worried there.

This game is a must win. We can't go into the bye on a 3 week losing streak, with 2 of those games being at home and the other being to the effing Jags. I would have been fine with Weeden starting if he had been anything resembling competent, but he was downright awful. As long as the doctors don't believe that he's at risk of aggravating the injury, and he can tolerate the pain, Romo should go. He'll have the full bye week to rest afterwards.

It is pathetic we have to think this way, but here we are. Best record in football one week, destitute and desperate the next.

Agree. Dallas cannot afford to play another throw away game. If they are going to make this a successful season they have to jump on this opportunity and not look back. Romo can rest next week. This week is too important to not give it all you have.

I'd like to have not had him make the trip, avoid the flights, and have 3 weeks off but we need the win and I have no confidence in Weeden. Free and Leary are practicing again so hopefully we run more, pass less, and protect him.

Scout's Eye: Rookie Receivers Have Shined For Jaguars

Wednesday, November 05, 2014 8:42 AM CST

By Bryan Broaddus

Football Analyst/Scout

LONDON -- I might be overseas, but I'll be keeping my normal schedule for game week.

With that in mind, I've got three players to keep an eye on from a Jacksonville team you might not know too much about.

Weapon: Denard Robinson, RB

Denard was one of the most electric players I had ever scouted coming out of college. The University of Michigan played him as a quarterback, but it was clear very early in the scouting process that if he were to have an opportunity in the NFL, it would have to be at another position due to his lack of size and arm strength for the position.

At the Combine he worked at several different positions for the scouts and many came away impressed with his athletic ability but were struggling to find a spot for him. The Jaguars selected him in the fifth round, which traditionally is the spot that teams begin to start to draft those players with certain traits but lacking in measureables. What is interesting in studying Robinson today is that he has shown the ability to be more than just a gadget player. He is tougher than you think running the ball and it’s just not on the edges. He will run with his pads down and finish. You see him bounce off tacklers and continue to keep his legs moving.

Where I believe he is especially dangerous is in the read-option scheme that offensive coordinator Jedd Fisch likes to feature at times. All Robinson requires is a little crack of daylight and he is quickly into the second level. His run instincts and vision are remarkable despite having only played the position for two seasons now. This Cowboys defense has to be keen to his ability to not only carry the ball with toughness but make those explosive plays as well.

Nemesis: Chris Clemons, DE

The Jaguars have rebuilt their defensive line this season by signing four players that were not with them in 2013. The addition that caught my attention was Chris Clemons from the Seahawks. It surprised me that he was available and the Jaguars were quick to jump on board and grab him for their rotation.

Off that edge, Clemons can still do those things scheme-wise that he has been able to do his entire career – get up the field as a pass rusher. Jason Garrett often talks about the relentless sprit of a player, and Clemons is that guy. He is always in motion once the ball is snapped, attacking the upfield shoulder of the tackle or setting him up for a move back to the inside. Clemons has those traits that the good rushers have in having a plan for how to rush.

It is rare that you see him get caught or in between on his moves. His rangy build and long arms really help him control the blocker. He normally lines up off that right side, so that would put him in line to see plenty of Tyron Smith -- but we will also see him come off the opposite side working against Doug Free. Clemons will rush as a single rusher, but the Jaguars like to use him with other defensive linemen in the twist games and stunts as well with the plan of trying to get him to the quarterback.

I guarantee that he will have the full attention of Tony Romo and this offensive line regardless of where he lines up.

Under the Radar: Allen Hurns, WR

It appears that the Jaguars hit on two rookie receivers in Allen Robinson and Allen Hurns. Both are off to an outstanding start to the season and play a large role in what they do offensively scheme-wise.

Robinson was a second-round selection out of Penn State and was more widely thought of than, Hurns who played his college ball at Miami and was signed as a college free agent after the draft.

What jumps out to me off the tape about Hurns is his size. He is just a tick over 6-1 in height and looks thinly built, but he is a solid 198 pounds. To go along with his frame, he has long arms and this helps him go get the ball. Receivers coach Jerry Sullivan has done a really nice job of working with him as a route runner, as well. You will see him line up on the outside, but he will also take some snaps out of the slot. Usually for tall guys, you will not see them handle many of those snaps, because it takes them time to get going.

Hurns didn’t have the best 40 time coming out of Miami at 4.54. He also didn't have a short shuttle that would have led you to believe he is quick, but on tape he shows both. What I really like about his game is his ability to get down the field and make plays. Of all the Jaguars receivers, he is the one that has the biggest upside when it comes to making those chunk plays. If you just take a look at his numbers this season he has made catches of 63, 46, 44 and 40 yards. Last week against the Bengals was a breakout game for him, which leads me to believe he will continue to get more opportunities because he has taken advantage of the ones he has received so far.

The Jags pass rush is legitimate. Better than most of the teams we have faced this year.

Good thing is their secondary is not good and their offense is struggling because of a bad OL.

Not a gimmie with Weeden at the helm.

Dallas Cowboys practice report Thursday from London: QB Tony Romo returns; both starting DTs, LB McClain still out
By Brandon George / Reporter bgeorge@dallasnews.com
7:05 am on November 6, 2014 | Permalink

LONDON — Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo is practicing for the first time Thursday since suffering two small fractures in the transverse processes of his back Oct. 27 against Washington.

Romo was throwing passes in individual drills early in practice, though backup quarterback Brandon Weeden was taking more repetitions. Romo still wasn’t moving as fluidly as he normal would in a practice.

Three starters on defense were still out Thursday: middle linebacker Rolando McClain and defensive tackles Nick Hayden and Tyrone Crawford. McClain and Crawford have sprained medial collateral ligaments in their right knees, and Hayden has a shoulder injury. All three were injured Sunday against Arizona. McClain and Hayden weren’t in uniform but at practice Thursday. Crawford wasn’t at practice and stayed back at the team hotel to receive treatment.

The Cowboys are practicing again at Allianz Park — an artificial turf rugby field — on another overcast and chilly day in London. A swift wind Thursday had most all players in sleeves for practice, though receiver Dez Bryant wasn’t one of them.

Rookie linebacker Anthony Hitchens was practicing Thursday after he was injured Wednesday early in practice during a drill in which he was hit in the chest by a teammate. Cowboys coach Jason Garrett said Thursday that Hitchens has a “back and rib thing” bothering him after he was hurt Wednesday, though the club’s official practice/injury report lists the injury as “chest.”

Starting offensive linemen Doug Free and Ron Leary were practicing again for a second consecutive day Thursday after returning from injuries Wednesday.

I feel pretty good about this game if our OL is back healthy and the dipshits on the coaching staff pound the ball like we were doing.

Tony Romo gets advice from Brad Johnson
November, 6, 2014

By Todd Archer | ESPNDallas.com

LONDON -- Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo eased into his first practice since suffering two transverse process fractures in his back on Oct. 27, but he felt fine afterward.

He will receive more treatment after practice, and the expectation is that he will practice again on Friday. He said if his practice work continues to improve there, is a “good chance” he will play Sunday against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Romo has said the back has improved incrementally over the past few days, falling in line with what former teammate Brad Johnson told him via text message.

Johnson suffered a similar injury in his career. Daunte Culpepper also had a similar injury with the Minnesota Vikings, while playing for Cowboys passing game coordinator Scott Linehan. Baylor quarterback Bryce Petty missed one game this season with the injury.

“I think you find that everyone who’s had it knows it’s uncomfortable,” Romo said. “You just try and get better and you go play.”

If Romo plays, then he plans to be himself and not look to take extra precaution.

“I don’t know that you want to predetermine what you do,” Romo said. “Playing the quarterback position, one of the things you want to teach young guys is just get rid of the pre-determining aspect before the snap of what you’re going to do. I think sometimes guys who are gifted enough to run and move get themselves in trouble because they’ve decided there is going to be pressure in this game and [they're] going to do [run] on this play. And other guys are going to throw it here because the coverage looks this is what it likes pre-snap. Those things will get you in trouble. I think you want to make sure you’re playing each play out as it unfolds and go through your progressions.”

Turf a minor concern at Cowboys practice
November, 6, 2014

By Todd Archer | ESPNDallas.com

LONDON – The Dallas Cowboys play on artificial turf at AT&T Stadium but only practice on it if they make the drive to Arlington, Texas, because of poor weather.

Instead of their grass fields at Valley Ranch, the Cowboys are practicing on artificial turf at Allianz Park, home of Saracens Rugby Club.

“I didn’t like the turf for my joints,” safety Barry Church said. “We have to be careful with the turf … It’s a different feel [from AT&T Stadium]. I feel like the grass isn’t as long and there’s a lot of guys slipping. But we’ve got to be careful when we get out there.”

The complaints about the turf have not been major. The rugby field has been re-fitted for NFL regulations, complete with yard markers and the hashmarks. There are field goal posts on each end for Dan Bailey to practice. The added width of the field allowed for more space for drills. At Valley Ranch the offense and defense use the two grass fields.

Like at Valley Ranch, the Cowboys pumped music over the loudspeakers at practice, which might have caused some neighbors some headaches.

“Great atmosphere; it really was,” coach Jason Garrett said.

The Cowboys will hold their final practice at Allianz Park on Friday before having a walkthrough at Wembley Stadium on Saturday.

Now, I've heard he was moving gingerly and from some other reporter that he looked fluid and normal. Not sure who to believe.
