I think he was a a Falcon without our move. I agree it was a steep price and there was a lot of talent yo be had, but you move up for a first round graded player. Did it with Lee, did it again.
And so what if he's a Falcon? I wonder if Atlanta is crest fallen or they just regroup and get another rusher like Attaochu, Ealy, Crichton, Murphy or Martin.

I bet they do the latter.

There were other options. We just got blinders on and made a dumb trade.

Yeah, I get that. And I agree he probably would have been taken by the Falcons. But with our holes, we can't afford to package picks. That 3rd rounder more than likely would have been another starter for us. Any DT or safety we might have taken there would be instantly better than what we have now.

He better be good. If he was looked at as an elite rusher, he would have went high in the first.

There is a decent chance he might have still been there at 47. If not, move on with your life and take somebody else.
No shit. If he's not there, move on with your life. He's not someone we absolutely HAD to have. Oh, and we helped the Skins too. Total fail.

If he's a Greg Ellis, was it worth the 3rd rounder? Or does Lawrence have to be better than Greg Ellis?
No, he has to be a double digit sack guy to me. That's the bench mark for me for a 1st round graded DE.

Now, I won't complain too much about an Ellis career cause that's still 8 sacks a year which is solid but it's not elite which is what I expect.

But in the 3rd you'd get another 2nd round graded guy, this is the ultimate team game and you chose a late first over 2 second rounders, the only position wher it could be worth it is QB.

Still have picks left in a deep draft.
By the time the fourth round pick rolls around, it won't be quite as attractive. That's when we can start drafting projects.

This was a bad trade. There is no way you can sugar coat it.

I like the player. But in a draft like this, you just don't give up picks.

You do notice there are not a lot of teams giving up picks in the 3rd, right?

They recognize they can still get starters there.

Not our stupid fucking braintrust.

They would rather fist pump like a bunch of twerps after their division rival bent them over.

The thing is that if you truly believe he is the right guy, you don't take a chance at missing him.
If we truly thought he was the guy, you'd have thought we'd have moved into the first for him. Hell of a chance we took letting him fall as far as we did.

We got blinders on because he was a first round grade and the rest probably weren't. I'm sure that's a sizable separation for them as it should be and worth the risk.

Sorry our "first round grade" nonsense doesn't mean shit to me.

No guarantee with that. JJ Wilcox was a 3rd rounder and he's not an upgrade over Heath.

What bothers me more is that it was with a division rival.

Who the eff does that?
