Weeden was 4-6 for 69 yards and a TD...and we turned the tie ballgame back over to a gimpy QB who looked like crap before he took his latest shot.

Unreal.
If nothing else, I gained some confidence in Weeden last night. He had some real zip on some throws and looked comfortable out there.

funny thing is that this game should've ended even worse. safety in endzone, romo's almost int, romo's strip sack that we somehow recovered...

another point - why weren't we able to get the ball to dez bryant or terrance williams?

that clemson rookie Breeland, I think, played a helluva game. if we're going to pass, this needed to be more effective.

I don't have any long term confidence in Weeden. There's enough film on him to know what he is. But he was on point last night and there was no reason not to ride with him. Chances are he could have Orton'd and threw the game losing pick like last season. But we also probably would have stuck with the run much more with him playing and probably never ended up in OT to begin with.

Not sure why we didn't throw it up to Dez on some of those blitzes, did you notice when it showed Linehan and Dez talking with Romo Dez kept saying I'm open.

As bad as we were against that blitz, I was wondering the same thing.

I'm not one of those fans that thinks you should just throw it up indiscriminately against a blitz, but last night was one of those situations where we probably should have given how much 1 on 1 Dez saw and how poor we were at giving Romo time.

Last drive in regulation, Murray rushes for 9 yards out of shotgun from our 3. So running, in an obvious run situation works, even out of shotgun.

5 straight passes from an obviously injured Romo (including the fumble and almost int). Romo immediately under duress and failing to see blitzers.

First drive in OT, Murray rips off 8 yards from a running formation. They know what is coming and can't stop it.

2nd and 2 - Romo again under almost immediate duress has to fling to Murray for a loss of 1.

Two downs to get 3 yards.

Two more incomplete passes.

Simply incomprehensible.

He did exactly what you want from your back up and I think we could win a couple games with him in a pinch. Yes, there is "film" on him, but he was playing in a shit show in Clev...I don't think he is as bad as he looked there.

I have to give Breeland credit...he played really well last night. Part of that is he did not have to cover for very long, but he looks like a player.

If that's the case than we actually have an upgrade at the position over Orton, which I think would suprise everyone.

But if that's also the case, than it's even more inexcusable to throw a hurt Romo back out there.

I did not want Romo out there either, but I am not talking about substitutions, just what I saw from Weeden.

The defense was frustrating at times by not getting off the field on third and fourth down but they still only gave up 20 points (including overtime). I'll take that almost every time with this offense. The two fumbles were huge. Especially Murray since it was in the red zone. Then there is the issue of abandoning the run at the strangest times. Murray probably gets in if we pound it up the middle on the first Weeden drive that ended with a FG. Then in OT we could have ran it right down their throat. We reverted back to the old way of passing just to pass. No rhythm at all and no adjustments. Where were the two TE packages, or the draw play? Romo sucked, two fumbles killed us, and play calling was horrible.

I wonder if Jerry is working the phones right now to get a LB? Trade Deadline Jerry is my favorite Jerry.

I'm curious what LB is out there available that would be able to play over Wilbur.

Out of the myriad of dumb decisions, the worst might have been calling 2 straight passes from inside the 5. With your backup QB fresh off the bench.

The "identity" we had been building up went right out the window yesterday.

Radio says Tony Romo's dad had to drive Romo home from the stadium. This back isn't looking good.
