I am more concerned about how this makes him appear as a teammate.

You want to hand the ball to a guy with the game on the line who took a tester bottle and underwear?

It just tells me he is an incredibly stupid immature person who uses poor judgment. I'd cut him based on those traits alone.

I know it is ugly sounding, but if I am in a foxhole, I would take a psycho over a dumbass.

Exactly.

The real poetic justice would occur if we stand by this dumb shit and meanwhile some team decides to sign a hungrier non-retard in Williams off our practice squad.

Bryant did his share of stupid shit too early on.

Randle is a dumbass, but lets not go overboard here. He took some undies and a cologne tester.

A nice fine would suffice, I would think.

I keep waiting to hear New England or Carolina has grabbed him.

A fine makes sense, but it would have sent a message that distractions will not be tolerated if he had received a harsher punishment. This feels more like a PR response

Yea, I would have liked to have seen him suspended for a game or something.

Sitting him and calling up Ryan Williams, even if just for a week, would've been a nice way to both send a message to the team and keep them focused after coming off the big win.

Opportunity missed.

I didn't think the team could fine a player under the personal conduct policy, only the league.

Also show the younger guys that everyone will be held accountable, and you can be called up at a moment's notice.

This was a must if you ask me.

It would've been even more valuable at this particular time because there is a new attitude and mentality being formed due to having so many new faces on the team.

Like I said, it was an opportunity missed.

Father of Dallas Cowboy accused of shoplifting tells TV station: 'My son is not a thief'

The father of Dallas Cowboys running back Joseph Randle told WFAA his son is innocent after being arrested Monday evening for shoplifting a cologne bottle and a pack of underwear at the Dillard’s at Stonebriar Mall in Frisco.

"My son is not a thief, okay? He was just trying to get his baby out of there because she was clowning pretty bad. All he was going to do is take ‎the baby out and then he was going to come back and take care of his business," Mr. Randle told WFAA.

His father, who declined to give his first name, told WFAA that his son is a Christian boy who had his child and her mother with him at the time.

"He said they wouldn't come and wait on me so I wanted to get them outside the door so she could try to calm her down and then come back. It's as simple as that," his father said.

Randle's child was not mentioned in the police report.

Police were called to the Dillard’s at 8:17 p.m. Monday, said Frisco police spokesman Chad LaPrelle. The store’s loss prevention employees had detained Randle, who was later charged with theft, a Class B misdemeanor.

Police said Randle attempted to steal a $39.50-pack of two black Polo underwear and a tester bottle of Gucci Guilty Black cologne valued at $84.

He was released from Frisco City Jail early Tuesday after posting a $350 bail, police said.

The Dallas Cowboys have not publicly commented on the alleged incident, which was captured on surveillance video, according to an arrest report.

The video shows Randle walking to the underwear section and dropping a packet of underwear into a Dillard’s bag he’d received from a previous purchase.

A security officer stopped Randle in the parking lot. A store manager escorted Randle back to the store and recovered the stolen items, which were valued at $123.50 before taxes.

After he was arrested by Frisco police, Randle told police he thought, “All right, y’all got me” when he saw the security officer — who he described as the “old guy” — approach him in the Dillard’s parking lot.

He also told police he “should have just kept walking to his car if he knew he would be arrested,” the arrest report states.

Randle has a base salary of $495,000 for this season. He was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys out of Oklahoma State in the fifth round of the 2013 NFL Draft.

He’s currently behind DeMarco Murray on the depth chart and played a key role in the Cowboys’ win at Seattle on Sunday, rushing for 52 yards against the league’s top rushing defense.

Monday is the only day during the week that the Cowboys don’t practice.

Theft is listed as “conduct detrimental” under the NFL’s 2014 personal conduct policy.

Randle is now subject to discipline. He could be fined and/or suspended.

Also, according to the league’s personal conduct policy, persons arrested and/or charged “generally will be required to undergo a formal clinical evaluation.”

Based on the results of the evaluation, Randle “may be encouraged or required to participate in an education program, counseling or other treatment deemed appropriate by health professionals,” the policy states.

Garrett: Joseph Randle to be fined
Updated: October 15, 2014, 1:21 PM ET
By Calvin Watkins | ESPNDallas.com

IRVING, Texas -- Dallas Cowboys coach Jason Garrett said backup running back Joseph Randle will be fined significantly for being arrested for shoplifting in a Frisco, Texas, mall.

Randle was charged with a misdemeanor Class B theft of $50 to $500, according to police. He was released on writ bond at 1:20 a.m. Tuesday.

Frisco Police Lt. Jason Jenkins said Randle is accused of attempting to steal underwear and cologne from Dillard's in Stonebriar Centre Mall.

Randle met with Garrett on Tuesday and addressed his teammates on Wednesday morning. Garrett said Randle will play in Sunday's game against the New York Giants.

"He took full responsibility for it," Garrett said. "There were a lot of circumstances that were surrounding the situation, but there are no excuses, no explanations for this. He took full responsibility, and he made a really poor decision. He recognizes that.

"This is the poorest decision he ever made in his life and, again, there are consequences to those decisions, and we made that abundantly clear with him. There are public consequences, and there are certainly consequences on this football team. He understands that, and he's going to feel that and we're going to move forward."

The arrest report states that store security officers, watching via the closed-circuit surveillance system, observed Randle purchase an item at the perfume counter before walking to the underwear section and concealing merchandise in his Dillard's bag. He then exited the store before being stopped by security in the parking lot.

The store security officers recovered from Randle a two-pack of black Polo underwear valued at $39.50 and an almost full "tester" bottle of Gucci Guilty Black cologne valued at $84.

Randle has been praised this season by Cowboys coaches. He's second on the team with 113 rushing yards and has three special-teams tackles, including one to stop Percy Harvin on a kickoff return during last week's victory at Seattle.

Took this from MSN Sports.

IRVING, Texas — Dallas Cowboys backup running back Joseph Randle's Monday night arrest for shoplifting will cost him a significant fine in the range of $29,117, the amount the second-year back earns per week on his scheduled $495,000 base salary this season.

Randle was charged with a misdemeanor Class B theft of $50 to $500, according to Frisco, Texas police for shop lifting a tester bottle of cologne and a two-pack of underwear at nearby a suburban mall.

A fifth-round pick in 2013, Randle met Tuesday with executive vice president Stephen Jones and coach Jason Garrett when Jones told USA TODAY Sports "significant discipline'' was imposed on Randle, who rushed for a season-high 52 yards on five carries in Sunday's 30-23 win against the defending Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks.

Jones said that significant discipline would not include a suspension.

"It'll be a major fine -- game-check range, and he'll do some other things that go with it: community service and things like that we'll want him to do – significant discipline,'' Jones said during a Wednesday sit-down with USA TODAY Sports. "Unfortunately, that's why he fell a little bit in the draft, just a little bit of the off-the-field stuff.

"He doesn't necessarily make the best decisions. And he made a bad one there. He understands.''

Randle said Wednesday he addressed his teammates and apologized.

"It was hard coming back in the locker room looking people that care about me in the eyes knowing I did something stupid," Randle said. "I can't just go like nothing happened. I had to address the issue. It was time to move forward so it's not a distraction moving forward. We're playing our rival team, the Giants this week. That's what we're trying to focus on."

Randle, who ranks second for the Cowboys with 113 rushing yards, will have to earn his way back into the organization's good graces.

"I don't think this is the norm for him,'' Jones said. "He's come a long way in a couple of years. He'll be a good person and a good face for the organization ultimately. It was a good learning experience for him.''

Randle said he has never been in this kind of trouble before.

"I'm just trying to take full responsibility and really just move on from it," he said. "It's the biggest mistake I've ever made in my life. Now it's time to move forward. I've never been in any kind of trouble in my whole life. This is just something I have to learn from and move forward.''

Randle also said his teammates were supportive after he apologized.

"They know people mess up. I really made a big mistake," he said. "I know there's big-time consequences to pay in life. I disappointed a lot of people who really care about me like my brothers on the team, the coaches around here, this whole organization, people who have supported me. My family, my Dad, I let a lot of people down.

"And I'm really trying to do my best to make it up to them, do whatever I have to do to get past this."

Garrett spoke about Randle's situation Wednesday with reporters.

"He took full responsibility for it,'' Garrett told reporters. "There were a lot of circumstances that were surrounding the situation but there are no excuses, no explanations for this and he took full responsibility."

I hope this humiliation doesn't get in his head and lead to mistakes on the field.

Like it or not, lack of talent and retardation aside, we really need this guy.
