Add Cumberland TE B.J. Stewart. We will probably end up moving him to DE if he makes the PS.

Maybe we can get lucky and see an OL of Smith, Livings, Frederick, Leary, Clabo/Winston this year.
That is my hope. I think I'm leaning towards Winston because of his age but Clabo is more the prototypical size of a RT.

Cowboys should get value from a few of these UFAs, which is nothing new. Hamilton, Magee's names thrown around during draft process.

[h=1]Cowboys add 15 undrafted players[/h]April, 28, 2013 Apr 28

By Todd Archer | ESPNDallas.com

IRVING, Texas – Over the years the Cowboys have excelled in landing undrafted free agents that make the 53-man roster, so it stands to reason a few of the 15 signings will make the club in 2013.

Last year, Cole Beasley, Ronald Leary and Ben Bass spent time on the active roster.

Here is the up-to-date list:

LB Brandon Magee, Arizona State
QB Dalton Williams, Akron
S Jakar Hamilton, South Carolina State
RB Kendial Lawrence, Missouri
CB Devin Smith, Wisconsin
CB Dustin Harris, Texas A&M
LB Cameron Lawrence, Mississippi State
WR Greg Herd, Eastern Washington
FB Paul Freedman, Virginia
LB Tank Reed, SMU
DB Jeff Heath, Saginaw Valley State
K Spencer Benton, Clemson
WR Eric Rogers, Cal Lutheran
CB Xavier Brewer, Clemson
LB Deon Lacey, West Alabama

Interesting to note the Cowboys did not sign an offensive lineman. Perhaps some could come in on a tryout basis for the May 10-12 rookie mini-camp. One tryout player, who is expected to sign is tight end B.J. Stewart from Cumberland.

Dallas needs real free agents here, not UDFA's.

They are already flooded with camp-body types in Ryan Cook, Kevin Kowalski, Phil Costa, David Arkin, Ray Dominguez, Ronald Leary, Arderious Simmons, Jeremy Parnell, and Derrion Weems.

Rookie FA Report: Broaddus Evaluates Akron QB Williams

Posted 5 hours ago

Bryan Broaddus
Football Analyst/Scout

The Cowboys have had recent success with undrafted rookies, with more than a handful winding up on the roster each of the last two years.

Of course, Tony Romo and Miles Austin are two of the best rookie free agents in both Cowboys history, not to mention the entire NFL.

So you never know when the next hidden gem will surface.

The Cowboys have agreed to terms with more than a dozen rookie free agents. Football analyst Bryan Broaddus has scouted more than 200 players so far in the draft, so here’s his breakdown on some of the top players the Cowboys will sign in the next few days.

Name: Dalton Williams

Position: Quarterback

College: Akron

Height/Weight: 6-4 / 217

Strengths: Right handed quarterback…physically looks like a quarterback….6-4, 217 5.02…The majority of his snaps were played in the shot gun…read option, pistol formations…can throw over the top or three quarters if he has to fit the ball inside because of rush…will slide in the pocket to buy a second chance…did a nice job of hitting the “4” or “In” against Florida International…ball was on target and didn’t make the receiver have to break stride at all…does a decent job of looking off coverage…looks like he plays with some awareness…outstanding ball handler…great with his play fakes and deceptions…showed some touch along the sideline…able to fit the ball to the outside and up the field…knows where to go with the ball…took some hits in the pocket and able to bounce back…not bad throwing on the move…actually better than throwing from pocket…made some decent throws moving both to his right and left…

Weakness: It’s rare that he takes a snap from center…have no clue how his footwork would be from center…will try and force the ball into spots…sees it but will be late with his delivery…allows defenders to break on the ball…ball does not snap off his hand…ball tends to hump or float on him…was more accurate on the tougher throws than he was on the easy ones…badly missed on a slant…was unable to throw the ball in front of the receiver…had a terrible interception in the Tennessee game where he flinched on the rush and just threw the ball into an area where he thought the receiver was going to be and wasn’t even close…will get rid of the ball and not always accurate…bounces on his toes in the pocket…doesn’t always set his feet and give himself a chance to throw the ball…not consistent with his throwing motion…can really be up and down with this…

Name: Brandon Magee

Position: Linebacker

College: Arizona State

Height/Weight: 5-10/223

Age: 22 (born Oct. 22, 1990)

Strengths: Has some thickness to his body…will attack the hole…warp up tackler…better going straight ahead…reads and goes…physically takes on blockers…works down the line using his hands…can bring his man down…has some pop to him…has a nose for the ball…is a physical player that is always around the ball…outstanding reactions…very effective chasing the ball…plays with awareness…good in zone coverage…will attack crossers….puts himself in position to make plays on the ball…reacts quickly to the pass on the outside…can work through cracks…seen him work through the trash…doesn’t get fooled much…plays with violence….shows up on film…leader…

Weaknesses: Some stiffness to react on slant in coverage…not much smoothness in his drop…can be a little tight when he as to turn…got caught on the goal line and knocked out of play…over ran tackle in space…will be too aggressive at times and it hurts him…needs to gather and come under better control to make plays at times…doesn’t have ideal height and weight for many schemes but does for this one…workout numbers don’t tell whole story…

Player Comparison: When I first saw Magee play, I thought he was Dexter Coakley in the way he was always around the ball. Coakley was outstanding in this scheme during his career with the Cowboys. Magee has a nose for the ball just like Coakley who also was an explosive tackler.

Broaddus has had a massive hard on for Magee for a while. He thinks he should have been the pick over Holloman.

If you watch clips of him, he looks active.

Holloman is a better athlete, IMO.

Holloman is more of a prototypical built LBer. For a guy who is a former safety the dude has ideal size. Magee on the other hand kind of reminds me of the 90s Cowboys defense with the undersized LBers who could run and were very productive in college.

I'll never understand why people put tackles 10 yards downfield in a highlights video for a LBer.
