Is it an Alamo Drafthouse? We have one here now, and that is where we watched GOTG. It was a great experience all the way around.
Um, yeah. Alamo Drafthouse. In Charlotte. Sounds like a winner. :doh

It is called Cinebarre. Probably the same concept.

I don't understand why you act like it's a crazy notion.

Yeah, I forgot to look at all of the nationwide locations of the Alamo Drafthouses before replying. Stupid me.

I love that place. I go to a few of the local locations and, in addition to being a good brew and view, they do some really cool shit. Years ago I went to a screening of "The Big Lebowski" and with the price of admission everyone got a White Russian and a certificate for a free game of bowling after the show. I also saw "Napoleon Dynamite" there and the actor that played Pedro was in attendance and would go in and out of character, for the "King of Kong-A Fist Full of Quarters" they had a Donkey Kong tourney and Steve Wiebe was there trying to set the record again (with Walter Day of Twin Galaxies there as official referee), before "The Wrestler" they showed a bunch of old NWA/Georgia Championship Wrestling footage (mostly totally bad ass Ric Flair/Four Horsemen interviews from the early/mid 80s), the have a regular Mystery Science Theater style show, do movie quote-a-longs, etc. It's just a lot of fun.

The one thing that stands out the most is how little the waiters/waitresses effect the movie watching. I did not expect that. Hell, when our waitress brought us our bill she actually scared the shit out of me. Just a hand reaching up over the little table thing. Spooked me. :lol

Saw Guardians tonight. Amazing how Disney/Marvel just keeps getting better and better at making these comic movies. A lot of people predicted failure when they went to less well known source material. Well, this just opens them up to make any comic movie they want even if it isn't about an iconic character that everyone has heard of.

I agree. I had a lot of questions about choosing a story that I found boring. It pretty much comes down to them hiring the right guy for the story and allowing them to do what they do best. That's why I had hope for Ant Man. Not a character I care about at all, but Edgar Wright I have faith in. Now they lose him and I question it again.

Adam McKay came in to help with the script...comedy is harder to write than anything, so I have faith he will help. Also...seeing a guy like Rudd get a superhero role like Pratt could be a home run.

Rudd and McKay will certainly do their job. No doubt.

My question is the director. All he's done is comedy and pairing him with this cast and script should sonewhat fit, nut it still needs action. The best movie this dude has done with any action that I've seen is Bring It On. Not encouraging.

I don’t concern myself with the directors of Marvel movies anymore...they are all just part of the machine, that is why Wright left IMO. It was like the early Star Wars movies...they were directed by others, but Lucas was really the guy...just like Whedon is with Marvel.

Glad to see James Gunn get his mainstream break with Guardians. His Dawn of the Dead remake and Slither are a lot of fun. Cool to see a guy who started out with Troma making it big.

I got to see the 30th anniversary theater run of Ghostbusters today, a few days away from my own 30th birthday. To top if off, my dad passed away last week, and a lot of my memories of him involve watching the Ghostbusters movies and cartoon. It was a great experience.

Condolences on your loss...I have watched that movie multiple times with my kids. I think the Nolan Batman movies would be the ones we look back at as "our" movies...particularly with my son. We'd always talk about who the next villain should be, who would play it, etc. I know...CSB

I watched the Saved by the Bell movie on Lifetime last night.

Lark Voorhies was my high school celeb crush so I had to watch. Don't judge me.

The director(s) needs his ass whipped for besmirching the name of Zack Morris. They cast some 5'2" twerp to play The Zack Morris. Zack was a stud, a Bayside legend, and an athletic freak. The kid Lifetime had playing Zack was shorter than Screech and looked like a loser with a bad blonde wig.
