Everything I've read suggests the game is harder due to the improved defense.

Is that honestly the vibe you get, or does it just seem cheap? One of my biggest gripes has always been the lack of real NFL throws you could make in the game.

You either had passes swatted down that should not have been due to the the game having limited pass trajectories, or it would be one of those deals where the game just didn't have any run-through-the-catch animations and what should have been a TD would instead be an immediate catch and tackle.

The two things I looked for the most in the demo in recent years was to see if the passing game had changed and if pass rushers actually mattered, and every year, both of those aspects would remain the same.

Has either of these changed at all?
I had a real nice response typed out earlier and some how closed my internets so this won't be near as well thought out.

My brother and I both thought this game had a 2k feel to it. Running the ball was better and more fluid, we both have struggled throwing deep balls and it seems like the DB get a jump on most balls, especially the out routes.

Defensively, I play with mostly dline at the snap of the ball and the jump the snap feature is nice, pressure on the qb does seem to matter, a lot more bad throws, you have to climb the pocket and avoid pressure to make accurate throws.

So far its been a decent upgrade, of course visually its much better, I do not like the play calling though, I may get used to it but its weird right now.

I am going to pick it up tomorrow. My vow this year is to not use the draft cheat sheets off of OS in franchise mode. I had too many loaded classes last year.

Did you play Madden 2005? That was one of the few good Madden games of the decade, but it was also the one were they focused entirely on defense. Everything was much harder.

Even online games were in the 17-13 range. While there were improvements, there was also a lot of cheap shit too.
I cannot recall if it was 05 or 06, but I seem to recall one year where it was not just cheese-o-rama. Whatever year that was fits my style of football I like to play on the game.

I played two online games today...I was beating the Jets 10-7 and the guy bolted and was raping NE 17-0 and the guy quit. Passing is a bit harder...not as accurate, but Romo was on point for me. Not sure what that sensor thing is that goes up around you while playing D, guess it is your tackle radius...good I guess. Not a huge difference, but I like it...liked last years though too.

Running is much easier than I remember. Passing tougher.

Playing as as the whole team is much easier than one person though.

That was Madden 2005 - the one that is widely regarded as the last great Madden game.

Oh nice.

Well damn.... @boozeman, if you buy a PS4, then the least I could do is buy Madden.
Went ahead and bought the Madden bundle. Should be here some point in the next few days.

Sick thing is I probably won't be home to play it as I will be travelling.

Only played briefly, but I did like that fumbling did not see like a big issue like last year. You could adjust sliders, but still.

Just a question about online play with PS4.

You have to buy Playstation Plus now, right?

If so, that sucks ass.

Yea, but at least you get free shit on both PS3 and PS4 with it.

I think they're still giving you a free 7 day trial with every new PS4, so you may not have to do it right away.

I intend to take the PS3 to the loft and use it as a Netflix viewing device.

No franchise mode on Madde? Only connected franchise or am I missing something?
You go through Connected Franchise and there you have the option to do an online franchise or offline. I actually chose online cause then you don't have to worry about saving anything. Downside is if the server is down, you're screwed.

That's what I did too.

Put the PS3 in the bedroom and just watch Netflix and Blu-Rays and occasionally play one of the free games I get via PS Plus.

Yeah but with connected franchise you only get to control one player.
