It just chaps me to see these damn thieves pretend to be sportsman. They are classless scrum.
Don't exclusively blame them. Jerry has shown a history of enabling this behavior.

I could not care less about this.

I don't care about our backup because if Romo goes down I want us to tank for a pick, I also don't care about Jerry's money or the fact that Orton got one over on him.

How do you figure. He gives them a contract in good faith. It's their lack of integrity that is displayed.

The Ratliff situation was almost identical. The only difference is Ratliff feigned an injury and Orton didn't. That's part of the history I was alluding to.

The only thing I care about this situation at the end of the day is that it sends the wrong message.

Get contract. Decide you want out. Pout. Get cut. Pay no consequences.

I would have forced him to get off his ass, report to camp and then cut his ass.

Cutting him before camp means zero. In fact, it looks weak.

They are but what it amounts to is they are both scumbags.

Yes, they are both pieces of shit, but ultimately in the end, it is up to Jones to show that this won't be tolerated again.

He had a better chance here. He could have forced Orton to report and if he didn't, fine him.

What does he do instead? Cut him a week or two before more teams start camp, allowing him plenty of opportunity if he wanted to play someplace else.

I do wonder what the real truth is here, but ultimately all we are left with is Jerry holding the bag again.

Absolutely. Make him be a little inconvenienced at the least.

I agree. I am not defending Jones reaction. In fact it galls me that he doesn't take a hardline.

It's not the money that bothers me, it's the fact that we could have saved money against the cap had Orton retired instead of the Cowboys cutting him. It is a minor thing but it was a game of chicken and Jerry flinched way too far in advance.

I will just assume you missed the word "exclusively" in my first response to you.

He's too busy trying to be his players' buddy.
And it has got him zero.

It does not make the organization better. In fact it makes it more of a joke because he can't compete with deep pockets because dead money is eating it up.

People might scoff at the cap charge for Orton, but that amount can get you a decent depth player or more.

That's pretty much the crux of it right there. He loves hearing all these ex-Cowboys talking so glowingly of him. He wants to keep that going.

I think it was pretty clear he wasn't retiring when his agent was running around Valley Ranch during minicamps.

That's not typically what happens when a player wants to quit.'

Again, what's funny is he shares an agent with Jason Garrett. Tell me he had no clue what was going on or couldn't at least ask.

Rally time. Let's win big without them.

Just like how Cleveland showed Lebron they could win without him.

If Orton had been an a-hole leading up to this this point like Ratliff was his last few years in Dallas, no way in hell would I have backed down. He'd have reported to the team or else.

But as far as I can tell, Orton's been a good soldier during his tenure in Dallas.

Doesn't matter.

The professional thing to do is retire, if you want to retire.

This is a business. And Jones being spiteful would have served the team better than him being a nice guy.

I think what will or will not make me hate him is if he signs with another team. If he does, it will be Ratliff redux.
