Who's going to take him? His contract is pretty bad.
I have no clue as I don't follow the NBA as close as I used to. Only thing that I've heard is the Rockets were pretty confident that they could clear money if they needed to when the talk of Lebron or Carmelo was talked about. I could only assume they were talking about Lin. I say trade him to Boston.

That's what we need. A 3rd overpaid PG.

Magic sign Ben Gordon for 2 yr/$9M. Only first year gaurenteed. Good low level signing for them who can pick up the scoring load left by Afflalo.

Deuce - word is that the Rockets already have a deal in place to move Lin if they have to in order to complete the Melo deal.

Philly can take multiple bad contracts to get draft picks.
Sure, teams have flexibility. But why would you want what's sure to be a bottom end first rounder just to take on Lin? Makes little sense.

Not really...you gather enough assets and you can move around in the draft and target a player you want, plus Lin would be off the books when our younger players extension ready.

So Gortat and Lowry are both gone. Miami couldn't have come close to those numbers, but they were called 2 of the top 3 targets for them to keep Lebron in Miami. I guess they'll be pinning their hopes to him wanting to try again with an aging Wade, a subpar Bosh and a bunch of nobodies.

Liberty Ballers pretty much confirmed that something is set up between Philly/Hou if they need the cap room. Gather those assets Hinkie...and Lin would be useful for the team actually.

Most likely we send you the pick from NO. I will give that up to make cap room.

Sources: After meeting with Knicks, Carmelo Anthony aligned with team's plan
Adrian Wojnarowski

Anthony had direct questions for Jackson and coach Derek Fisher during a Thursday meeting in Los Angeles, and Anthony's increased confidence with the Knicks' direction – which includes a maximum contract offer of five years and $129 million – has strengthened the franchise's chances of re-signing Anthony, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

For Anthony, 30, there could be enough doubt about the possibilities in Chicago, Houston and Los Angeles to make leaving Madison Square Garden and a guaranteed $30 million more too risky of a proposition.

As one official involved in the recruiting process told Yahoo, "He just wants to feel like he's not all alone on the court."

In the meeting that included general manager Steve Mills, Jackson dispelled doubts that he was indifferent about Anthony staying with the Knicks, sources said. New York officials have made it clear to Anthony that they need him on the roster to have a chance to attract star players in free agency, sources said. After a week of franchises fawning over him during recruiting trips to Chicago, Houston, Dallas and the Los Angeles Lakers, Anthony needed to hear that enthusiasm out of the Knicks' top management – and of course needed that max contract extension made available to him.

Privately, Anthony has told people that he plans to take the holiday weekend to make a decision.

:lol He aligned with the idea that he wanted to be maxed out more than he wanted to win.

Devin Harris gave Mavs a great deal
July, 5, 2014

By Tim MacMahon | ESPNDallas.com

The inflation in the market for backup point guards didn’t end up affecting the Mavericks’ negotiations for Devin Harris after all.

Harris and the Mavs agreed to the same deal they originally struck last summer, only to mutually agree to pull it off the table after the discovery that he needed complicated toe surgery. The three-year deal for a little more than $9 million is a great bargain for the Mavs in a market in which point guards Shaun Livingston and Darren Collison were given the full midlevel exception, getting three-year, $16 million deals from the Golden State Warriors and Sacramento Kings, respectively.

Harris, a key component of the Mavs’ bench in the second half of the season and playoffs, likely could have squeezed more money out of another team. However, he said all along that he wanted to stay in Dallas.

The Mavs were equally determined to keep Harris, making it clear that he was a priority when Mark Cuban met the 10-year veteran for guard in the opening minutes of free agency.

That mutual love resulted in relatively easy negotiations. The Mavs hope the same holds true for sixth man Vince Carter.

Harris could play an even more significant role for the Mavs next season due to Jose Calderon being dealt to the New York Knicks in the Tyson Chandler trade. The tentative plan is for Harris to come off the bench again -- the Mavs love his chemistry with high-leaping reserve center Brandan Wright -- but Harris’ minutes could increase after averaging 20.5 per game last season.

That might have been the case anyway with Harris a full year removed from the surgery that sidelined him for the first half of last season. It’s possible that Harris ends up playing more minutes than Raymond Felton, the Knicks castoff who is penciled in as the Mavs’ starting point guard. (It’s also still possible that Felton could be moved in a salary-dump deal to free up more cap space if the Mavs need it.)

No matter the minutes, as long as Harris can stay healthy, this is a great deal for Dallas.

I wonder if Capela would be involed in a Lin deal...seems like a Hinkie move.

Well he learned from Morey in Houston so they think alike, Houston supposedly really like Capela so I think a draft choice will be the sweetener.
