Yea, I hold that expectation for myself. I would never be a cop because I couldn't bust somebody for a range of offenses, like drugs, because I don't want to be a corrupt politicians storm trooper. And I would never put myself in a position to throw a flash bang into a families home, even if the injuries were an accident. I would never take a job I knew would put me in that position. And I have to question the morality of those who do.

Sure they can still be fundamentally good men, but they made an immoral life choice that I don't agree with (like faggots). I am not saying they will burn in hell, but that the job has a definate immoral component.
So, with this position, there would be no cops at all unless they choose the moral low road and whore themselves out to the public?

Come on, man.

I am a big military guy. Generally the soldiers can do no wrong in my book, so I get iamtdgs position. What he doesn't get is that shit would change real fast for me if we started using soldiers to kick in American doors and tripled the legal code in a decade or two. Then I would say you have to be a piece of shit to choose that job.
I am a huge military guy as well. Anyone that has me on Facebook knows that. We owe our lives to those that protect our walls. Cops are an extension of that to me.

Maybe immoral is the wrong word, but there is definitely a moral ambiguity to the profession. I mean judges say it is okay for no knock raids, but police have to ask for them. Politicians are giving military equipment to police departments, but it is the departments themselves that are training and using these things. It is the departments that use swat teams as status symbols. With all these fancy hammers, is it any wonder every problem looks like a nail? It is police who foster and us against them mentality, against the public. It is departments that have shoot first policy towards pets. All of that before you even get in the problems of politicians shitty laws and and abuse of authority by police.

So yea, choosing the profession definitely has moral overtones, black and white. They weren't born police, they chose a job knowing full well what they would have to do. So I do not agree with the, "what me? I am just doing my job" attitude.
Additionally, you don't just go into the police dept and randomly get selected for the Swat team. You have to desperately want it and have friends in high places to get into SWAT. Most cops spend their whole careers writing tickets and never fire their weapon off the range.

I'd be much more willing to say that while the vast minority of cops are thugs, SWAT teams have the department's most aggressive and likely reckless and abusive officers. I think the percentage of bad cops on SWAT teams is probably WAY higher than in the regular patrol car.

I never can understand the idea that cops protect people. If someone kicks in my door, no cop is flying down like Superman out of the clouds to save me. The only person I can count on to protect me is me. The cops will be out writing a ticket somewhere and will show up later to clean up the mess and try to arrest me for defending myself in my own home. Then I'll have to pay CRock ten grand to explain to them that the law is on my side.

They are the opposite. They are a direct threat to our freedom and welfare.

It's true that the rights that the military are sworn to uphold are the very ones (like 1st and 4th amendment rights) that cops violate every day because they are more invested in being aggressive than following the law.

I'm only skimming so I may have missed it but I'm kind of surprised there's no discussion or video of the California cop straddling a woman alongside the highway and using her head as a speedbag.

That was pretty sickening. He'll get off.

There's another video from Houston where 2 cops shot and killed a man who was already handcuffed. The mouthbreathers on the grand jury didn't indict them for anything.

These bastards literally get away with murder and you still have people ready to drop to their knees when they see them.

Yeah, that was disgusting. He should be fired and charged with assault.

I don't see anyone here acting like they condone the actions of the dumbass cops. Most are just saying those cops are a tiny percentage of the cop profession as a whole. But your idiocy prevents you from letting that sink in.

Look who's calling me the idiot...

I quit name calling in middle school. Probably 6th grade or so. How old are you?

And this is not a tiny percentage. They don't screw with you because you obviously kiss their feet.

Cops kill far more innocent civilians than cops get killed by criminals every year. But somehow they are the good guys and out protecting us. Dont question cops. Even if we cant dispute your point you are childish for doubting our statist narrative.

Some people just dont deserve to live in a free country. Is it any doubt why our freedoms have been steadily eroded for 60 years?

Not at all. If you question them you're "an idiot." That's where we're at in this country.
