Pretty happy getting Conforto at 10...it was between him and Trea Turner. Conforto was rated the best hitter in this draft...I'll take it.

I'm surprised there hasn't been more draft talk...of course, maybe it matters more to me since the Rays are ready to be sellers. :cry

Very happy with Gillaspie. Lots of power from both sides of the plate and the 1B they took a few years ago in the first just hasn't developed. Some day, people will say that Joey Gallo wears Casey Gillaspie PJ's to bed.

Mets just took Milton Ramos out of south FL. Very good player. Best defensive HS player I've ever seen in person.

Luis Ortiz, taken 30th overall by the Texas Rangers, says he never had a pitching coach. So how did he learn to pitch well enough to get drafted so high?

He watched Felix Hernandez and modeled his mechanics after the Cy Young Award winner.

"I repeated myself after King Felix and did it in the mirror with repetition," Ortiz said in a conference call with reporters late Thursday. "I was playing catch and long toss. That was about it. I just got on the mound and knew I could be around the plate and throw strikes."

Fresno State is going to have fun developing him over the next 3 years.

Only way that happens is if we hire their coaches.

Not going to pretend to be a baseball scout, but for 17 years old, Aiken looks extremely polished in his mechanics and is poised and mature in the interviews I've seen. I like the pick.

We just drafted 6'8" and 6'9" pitcher. Putting together an impressive front line.

You guys can talk all you want. The Twins are the clear winner in this draft. At #5, SS Nick Gordon. A mix of Ozzie Smith, Cal Ripken Jr., Robin Yount, and Derek Jeter.

Rumor has it, Cooperstown is already making his bust.

What position? Linebacker?

Oh and it makes even less sense for Texas. Just surprised me since the Twins don't usually spend money.

I'm watching the Twins/Astros game on TV, and the announcers are talking about this signing. Said they will probably try to trade Morales to the Mariners for a pitching prospect at the deadline.

:lol
