I feel good about getting Melton...him not signing so far gives me homer ideas that he is waiting on the Cowboys.
We need to just go ahead and do it.

There are no other DT options in FA worth anything left. They are all gone.

Umm, no shit.

We need at least one decent starter on the fricking line. I get that we are trying to change, be cheap or whatever.

But this is getting down to crunchtime.

We simply cannot go into the draft needing four DL starters. That is insane.

And no...NOBODY on this crap roster is worth considering or even projecting to start on the DL. None.

If we are thinking that way, we are most certainly throwing in the towel and it will make our disaster on D last year seem functional.
It's time to pull the trigger on Melton. The market has slowed down and he is a legit probowl talent. If we can get him on a 4 year 20 mil range deal I would do it in a heart beat.

and you could easily make the case that both our starting corners need to be replaced
You can bag on Carr for sure, but Scandrick is not a guy who should be replaced.

Spencer hasn't gone away just yet.
I actually wouldn't mind bringing him in on a one year deal if I knew for sure the team would view it as a possible solution and not a definite one.

Chances are, they'd see it as the latter.

Selvie, Spencer, Crawford and Mincey. They would almost for sure view that position as set. The problem is I don't see an elite pass rusher in that entire group. Not even someone with the potential to have a big season as a pass rusher.

I can't see Dallas drafting someone high knowing that they will then likely turn around and cut one of those four players.

I'd bring Spencer back for cheap enough. If you can land Melton, then get 2 DLs in the draft... something to work with at least.

Hell, at this stage give me Melton and I am like thankful. Tragic, but true.

That's even worse than last year.

edit... oh wait, n/m, I thought that was the whole DL.
Even if we drafted players. Are we really a better DL with the likes of Mincey and McClain as reserves? To me, they are no different than the turds we were signing off the street last year.

Probably slightly better. Those guys are not what you would consider "quality depth."

I just can't see Jerry satisfied with that...after releasing Ware he is under the microscope to find his replacement...not one player in that group.is sexy enough for that.

Maybe the Stepford Fans are right. He's suddenly decided to go cold turkey and get cheap.

Mincey is better than what we had last year...I can't give an honest opinion on McClain.

Based on what? He was cut by the Jags and played on a Super Bowl defense which basically inflates his perceived value.

I wouldn't be surprised if this guy is cut in camp, Brodney Pool style.

Based on what he has done previously...not looking for a big season, but if properly motivated he could be solid in the rotation. He is better than Edgar Jones.

Jones wasn't acquired to play snaps on D. That was a ST acquisition.

I wouldn't doubt if they are viewing him as reserve at worst, Selvie redux at best.
