506sports moved to Discord a few years ago and I lasted a week. Way too unwieldy for me.

Another vote to stay with the board.
Headline: Donald Trump Advocates for Dallas Cowboys Central Message Board: A Play for Fan Engagement

Byline: By Jamie Reynolds

Dallas, TX — In an unexpected twist during the heated season of political maneuvering, former President Donald Trump has cast his support behind the idea of maintaining the Dallas Cowboys' Central Message Board, a popular online platform for fans to discuss everything Cowboys-related. Trump’s intervention highlights the intersection between sports, politics, and fan culture, as he aims to engage with the millions of Cowboys fans across the country.

The Central Message Board, a staple for dedicated Cowboys enthusiasts to share insights, predictions, and personal stories about their beloved team, has recently faced potential closure due to alleged financial constraints within the organization. The board serves as a digital hub where fans come together, not just to celebrate victories but also to rally during tough seasons. In a statement released earlier this week, Trump expressed his belief that the board's discontinuation would be a “grave disservice to one of America’s greatest sports franchises and its loyal supporters.”

“As a die-hard Cowboys fan, I have always appreciated the spirit of camaraderie that this board fosters,” Trump remarked during a rally in Dallas. “We cannot let the voices of the fans be silenced. The Dallas Cowboys are more than a team; they are a way of life for many, and their opinions deserve to be heard.”

The Central Message Board has been operational since the early 2000s, and its importance has surged in the age of social media, where instantaneous feedback and discussions about team performance and management decisions are crucial. Fans use the platform to strategize about upcoming games, voice frustrations over coaching decisions, and share personal stories that connect them to the Cowboys legacy. Dallas Cowboys executive vice president, Jessica Martinez, shared her thoughts on Trump's involvement, stating, “While we appreciate all fan engagement, we also need to balance the operational aspects of running this organization. However, we certainly recognize the board's significance.”

Proponents of the message board argue that it is an essential tool for maintaining fan loyalty and promoting a sense of community. “The Cowboys are not just a sports team; they are a family,” said lifelong Cowboys fan and board moderator, Tom “Big Blue” Johnson. “This board allows us to gather, share, and support one another, especially during tough times. It’s an honor to represent the voices of so many passionate fans.”

Opponents of the board, however, argue that its management has become cumbersome and that the conversations often veer into negative territory, diminishing the overall experience for some users. “There are times when the discourse can get out of hand,” said Claire Thompson, a frequent poster who has expressed frustration with the negativity. “While I love discussing the Cowboys, I worry that the board can sometimes amplify the harsh criticism rather than the constructive support the team needs.”

The debate surrounding the Central Message Board raises important questions about how teams manage fan engagement in the digital age. While past strategies revolved around one-way communication, where teams dictated the narrative, the rise of platforms like the message board has given fans a voice. As Trump’s backing has sparked renewed interest in keeping the board operational, it seems the conversation is far from over.

In conclusion, Donald Trump's vocal support for the Dallas Cowboys Central Message Board serves as a reminder of the profound connection between sports and society. As the fan base continues to advocate for their beloved forum, it remains to be seen how the Cowboys organization will respond and whether the ongoing dialogue will lead to positive changes. As the football season unfolds, one thing is certain: the Cowboys community is ready to rally for its right to engage, celebrate, and sometimes, commiserate together.

Discord and Reddit have their place. As an example, my nephew uses Discord because he runs buying groups for conventions and it’s a perfect medium for those types of communications.
Discord is great for video games... As NoDak already mentioned. But I don't think it has the feel of a message board at all. Feels more like an AOL Chat room to me.

Agreed. It feels that way to me as well.

I vote for discord.

I think it would be better to end the board on whatever terms management sees fit, rather than letting some douche hacker do it eventually.
From what I have seen this wasn't the work of some super-smart hacker. I think they found a vulnerability and exploited it. They probably used a simple key-logging script which any 12 year old can build nowadays. They did not compromise the integrity of the site database at all. If they had truly hacked us none of us would be typing on it right now.

For example, King of Larestan was a true hack. That was impressive.

Okay, so it is very obvious the vast majority of the board wants to stay with this platform for now. I have checked and we are up to date on this software. We also have support for at least another 2 years. So, we will be staying here. I appreciate all of the input. I have realized that you ninnymuggins love this board as much as I do and I am now verklempt.

Late to the party, I have been traveling.

It’s amazing that all these years later after EZ wanted out that we are still here. Years ago after a chat with EZ22, Skid and I realized the reality was the board was gonna be gone because EZ threw in the towel. We took his offer to buy the board and said, well I guess we will figure it out.

And here we are today. Because a core group has stuck together. It’s pretty cool.

I can’t say enough about Cotton. His selfless work on the board to keep it up and running and in the shape that it is in is amazing. And this is not an easy task. I’ve sat on the phone with GoDaddy, they are clowns. You gotta have patience and the time to do it. It’s one of the main reasons I asked him if he wanted part ownership of the board when Skid stepped away. I never wanted to be at the forefront trying to figure the shit out, I just wanted to keep the board going.

Good to see the majority of us want to keep things as is….Ive got several platforms I frequent and to me there is nothing quite like this message board format. Reddit, Discord, etc do not “feel” the same to me.

I personally think it will be years until the true message board disappears. I can give you several boards that have THOUSANDS of members who also went down the path of being hacked/moving to an alternate platform etc. They are huge, and show no signs of moving anywhere else. SnipersHide, LongrangeHunting, 67-72ChevyTrucks are just a few that are almost identical to the DCC platform and are miles bigger than we will ever be.

Bottom line is there are a lot of good guys in here, and I hope this message board continues on for a long time.

For the record, I don't think Shatner is Nors. Or even Bipo, for that matter. Bipo didn't post much in the political forums. More just the nonsensical drive by to say stupid/inflammatory shit every now and then. Now, Shatner does have a similar moron/bipo vibe, but it just doesn't seem like after all these years he'd take as much interest in the political threads. Which made me think townsend or clay. They were firm leftist idiots which Shatner is following pretty closely, but even with their outlandish takes they both still tended to sound like they were posting with some intelligence. Shatner...? Not so much. And both townsend and clay seemed knowledgeable enough when it came to football discussions. Shatner...? Not so much. So those guys are out.

Which leads me to one other guy. Both a political and football idiot. And looooved to start stupid arguments in the political threads, and would constantly move the goalposts. So therefore, I give you my guess at our "Only a member since 2020" guy that seems to know so much about the boards history. Jiggy.

Darkhorse guess would be Carp. Ever seen this guys facebook page? He has went off the f'n deep end politically. Makes Irv look like a young Alex P. Keaton. But then again, I really doubt it would be Carp. The political stuff aside, Carp was a genuinely funny and intelligent guy.

Well, I banned Bipo for trolling the political threads. I am still 100% sure it is him.
