I vote to keep this board. Not a big fan of Discord. Feels too much like a modernized late 90s AOL chat room.
Already there brahWe'll always have our memories. Until one of you bastids get dementia or something.
I’m sure there is some good stuff from long time members. At some point the software that the board runs on will no longer be operational, so i wonder if there are options for exporting the content of the DCC and then, perhaps, upload it into another forum format...even if it is into something like Discord.
I'm still sad that we lost the 1st couple iterations of the board.
When I'm bored I love going back and reading old threads. Will probably start tagging you goofy bastards in them from now on so you can appreciate some of the absolute gold that we have stashed here.
The profile tells no lies.
That profile but what of the original profile. The profile tells no lies.
When you have multiple personalities each one has an individual birth date. That profile but what of the original profile.
Wut?That profile but what of the original profile.
This is going to go away eventually and exactly what you're hoping to avoid will happen.I vote no to discord. I've seen boards do that and even with the same people, they just aren't the same and eventually sort of fall apart.
Why does it have to go away? This is going to go away eventually and exactly what you're hoping to avoid will happen.
We need to at least try another platform.
Yeah, I mean websites will exist for the foreseeable future. I'm guessing the assumption is that the support for message boards will eventually go away because of lack of demand? I think that's a pretty long ways off though. Now costs and things of that nature could shift at any time. But it's not like we require demand from outside users to survive. This message board survives because a bunch of us old asses refuse to leave. Why does it have to go away?
I mean, eventually everything will go away. But on what timeline?
Right, I respect TA's opinion, I just have a hard time believing that everything necessarily has to go to Discord or Reddit.Yeah, I mean websites will exist for the foreseeable future. I think that only happens if there is no one around to run or keep it running.Right, I respect TA's opinion, I just have a hard time believing that everything necessarily has to go to Discord or Reddit.
Discord and Reddit have their place. As an example, my nephew uses Discord because he runs buying groups for conventions and it’s a perfect medium for those types of communications.Right, I respect TA's opinion, I just have a hard time believing that everything necessarily has to go to Discord or Reddit.
Come on, old boy, let's take a walk...I vote for discord.
I think it would be better to end the board on whatever terms management sees fit, rather than letting some douche hacker do it eventually.
