Maybe it's all for nothing but the season is over so we might as well dream.

Who should be on the list if Eberflus is mercifully canned sometime in the next month or so?

They seem to only want former HC's when looking at DC's, so keep that in mind.

Here's what I have off the top of my head:

-Todd Bowles
-Jim Schwartz @boozeman
-Jonathan Gannon
-Leslie Frazier ("interviewed" for the HC spot here in January, wonder what the relationship is like there, if any)
-Raheem Morris
-Jim Leonhard (unlikely because he's never been a DC before, let alone a HC)

Bowles is the dream hire but I think it's 50/50 at absolute best that he's fired. I'd really like Schwartz or Frazier but I'd be surprised if Frazier left Seattle, and I'd be surprised if they went after a big name like Schwartz.

Someone like Gannon or Morris seems their speed, although I bet Morris goes back to the Rams when Shula gets a HC job.

Aside from DT, it feels like such a massive re-build on that side of the ball. Need more at DE, LB, CB, and safety.

A fourth coordinator in 4 years, with substantial personnel changes. Whomever it is will need to get pressure without superstar DEs, so a blitz merchant with an eye for CB talent that can hold up on the back-end.

I'd just call it an aggressive defensive coordinator. I think players would look different if we get an aggressive scheme. I don't believe that suddenly Bland has no ball skills for example.

Yes we need another pass rushing DE, we need a brainy LBer, we need a decent safety who can actually run. But it can easily be accomplished in an offseason.

I think Flores‘ contract with Mimmy runs out this year. I dunno how aggressive we would be going after him. Do not forget Eberflus was not going to demand big cash since the Bears are still paying him.

As long as he's a potential drinking buddy, he's on the short list.
I hate even day dreaming about what I would do because we know either Eburflus will return or it will likely be some retarded hire. But you'd hope that maybe Schotty could pick a decent coordinator. I think he actually did a good job assembling his offensive staff. But I also feel like he puts zero thought into the defense.

When Jerry told him Eberflus was his DC, he thought he'd better say okay.

I don't think it's as big a rebuild as it seems, primarily because the scheme is so God awful that it's making players look worse than they actually are.

Safety is a decent example, I don't think either Wilson or Hooker are amazing players but we know that they can function as starters on decent defenses.

Get a halfway competent DC in here and I think we could have a defense good enough to compete deep into the playoffs if we hit on both of our 1's with defensive players.

Throw Sonny Styles and Mansoor Delane on the roster and it looks a lot different overnight.

Yeah it's a fucked up thought process. My hope is that if Schotty was given some ability to pick the defensive coordinator. He would pick a guy with the same thought process that brought us Klayton Adams for example. And you'd think a guy like Schotty could have a good prospective of the defenses that he hates to face. Like I'm not sure how you can watch the defensive scheme and go, that's the defense I'd love to Dak and company to rip for 50 points. Yep, let's keep him as my defensive coordinator. The Vikings defense is clearly a good example of a defense that Schotty would look and go damn, that's hard to attack. Maybe I'd like something like that.

I mean there are times that playing Murray out there feels like playing defense with 10 guys. I'm just dumbfounded how the guy can run away from the football. Anyway, I'd probably feel more productive talking draft than I would defensive coordinators. I've never understood or liked the coach hiring process in Dallas. At least with the draft sometimes the Cowboys attack it in the right way.

I feel like we can fix the corner spot. Safety I'm worried about. I just think Wilson may be washed up. He had a nice play last night but then was toast basically every chance he got in coverage. We need some real speed on the back end. Bland, Revel, Carson or whoever I think we can work with. Maybe a high level slot guy on day 3 of the draft. But what I'm really concerned with is the play of the safeties and LBers. And obviously someone that can get immediate pressure from the edge would be huge as well.

Soon, soon.

We might have two top 20 picks now that Parsons popped an ACL.
Yeah it's sad but I'm over this season. The rest of the games are meaningless to me. And that's the entire post season as well.

I actually kind of hope that the defense continues playing like trash. It's the only slight chance we will get at a good defensive hire. This has been Mike Nolan level bad defensive coaching.

I'd take Al Harris. He fits that description, and as an added bonus has coached here before so maybe Jerry would be comfortable enough with him to bring him back.
