I don't understand why more coaches don't want to just stay at a school and make it their home and make it great. You're at a school that presumably can pay recruits lots of money. They've been doing it since before it was legal. You've got a well oiled machine. They are offering you big money. What's the allure of LSU? Higher expectations and a higher likelihood of being fired?

I get it 20 years ago when it was just easier to recruit at a Alamabama or Texas. But now anyone can recruit if they have the money. Guys like Ferentz feel like a dead breed in college football.

I'm with you, but I think Kiffin is a pure mercenary and will go to whichever place pays him one dollar more. Plus he's a Jerry-level narcissist who loves all this attention.

But I guess he'd rather go to LSU? Otherwise, why even talk about staying, not raiding their team, etc.?

I guess you probably get more attention as the head coach of LSU. So there is that. But you're probably right, some coaches just don't like to sit still for long. Like a person who wants to buy a new house every couple of years. They just want change for the sake of change.

Thats the interesting part with the NIL. Your history as a program doesn't mean much with recruiting anymore. It's about the money and picking the right guys.

I have one cousin who graduated from Tech in 2010 and was in the stadium when Crabtree caught that last second touchdown vs Texas (something she never fails to remind me of every so often).

And now the youngest cousin in the family is currently a freshman there and was at the BYU game.
